Pavilion Review

Living at the Pavilion has been a generally convenient and positive experience. There are countless amenities, and the proximity to the law school is particularly beneficial. The management could use some improvement, as we have had some issues getting them to address certain utility and machinery problems that we have faced in a timely manner, but they are generally helpful. The community is pretty lively, so sometimes the neighbors or people in the shared pool or dog park areas can be loud. The apartment itself is very spacious and the option to have it furnished saved us a lot of money.

Three Years at the Pavilion at North Grounds

I have lived at the Pavilion for all three years of law school. The only reason I have stayed is out of convenience--having furniture, my own bathroom, and close access to the school.

Were it not for the conveniences, I would have left the Pavilion because it is incredibly expensive and the management is unhelpful.

Pricey but convenient

It's nice to live so close to the law school, especially when I'm so tight on time in 1L. I use the gym in the building a lot as well, and I'm close to a lot of friends (even those that don't live in the building.) The finishes aren't great and there have been a few issues with the internet and elevators but overall I think it was a good fit for 1L. Now that I'm here with my feet under me I am planning to move somewhere more affordable for next year.

Pavillion = overrated

I've had lots of issues with the Pav, and I look forward to moving out. The two best things about living here are 1) proximity to law school and 2) the gym downstairs. The worst things are that it is so expensive, you have to pay additionally for parking, and the amount of maintenance requests you have to submit are ungodly. (I've had issues with air conditioner, nails sticking out of the carpet, and fans falling from the ceiling).

Pavilion

My favorite thing about the Pavilion is that it’s so close to grounds and so many other law students live here. The negative aspect is the price: it’s quite expensive, especially if you add parking, and it’s not really as “nice” or fancy as I would expect for how much it costs.

Amazing Location

Living at the Pavilion, you absolutely are paying for the location. The units themselves are nice, but probably not as nice as the price of rent. The amenities are good, but again, not good enough for how much we pay to live here. However, the location is simply unbeatable, and it is nice to live in a building with so many other 1L's. The maintenance staff is quick and responsive, although the wifi is sometimes slow (which I believe they are working on fixing right now), and the elevator sometimes breaks. All in all, as I said, the location is where a bulk of the cost of rent goes to, so I would keep that factor in mind.

Clean & Convenient at a Cost

I have really appreciated the cleanliness, updated appliances, spaciousness, gym, and personal bathroom that my apartment at Pav offers. The apartment came furnished, which was a plus for me. Above all, though, I have loved how close Pav is to the law school—it takes ten minutes or less for me to get from my bedroom to a classroom.

But if it weren't for my great roommates and the inconvenience of moving, I'm not sure I would have stayed all three years. Pav recently underwent a renovation, but many of the troublesome things about the building remain (e.g., broken doors, broken elevators, poor parking assignment system, wifi outages, etc.).

If you are looking for convenience and cleanliness at a cost (i.e., overpriced), Pav is a good choice. But I don't doubt that I could've been happy and in similarly close proximity to the law school in more affordable housing (that possibly had better management and less predatory re-leasing practices).

Management can be iffy

Elevators were down for weeks, a huge inconvenience for many. Management is pretty horrible and lease terms are unclear.

Not worth the price but good location

Though there have been security concerns at the Pav, I have overall had a secure time. However, the WiFi is PATHETIC and the service is centralized - as a resident you are unable to purchase private wifi. If you try to purchase private wifi, the Pavillion is listed as a business and you have to pay business prices. Management says they cannot list it as a residence. The biggest perk of living at the Pav is how accessible it is to everything, especially groceries and the law school. It also allows you to have your own bathroom. However, for the price you pay, there are a lot of downsides including the bad wifi and older appliances. All in all, if you have a car, I would highly recommend living somewhere else.
