Great For Broke People
Listen, if you're the kind of person who has never left suburbia, don't come here. That being said, if you don't mind noise, lack of A/C, and lack of any amenities other than parking, this is the best place. It's not super safe-- someone tried to break into my apartment once, and there are always homeless people sleeping on the stoop. You have to leave a note on your mailbox asking mailmen to call if you don't want your packages to get stolen, because they can't enter the building and there's nowhere to leave the package. That being said, if you're broke and still wanna live in Echo Park (and don't mind that you're literally right next to the freeway), this place is pretty good.
