Meh

I don't have anything to compare it to as this is the only place I've lived at in Lawrence. As my friend said, it's surface level bougie (at least, for a 'premium' apartment.) Their idea of premium is to just paint over everything and call it new. It does have new carpet and new appliances, so that's nice I guess. Everything else is very mediocre though. Weird smells, the paint job and other repair jobs are shoddy, and maintenance takes forever to come out but I think that's normal. Overall, it's livable. So if that's what you're going for, this place will be fine.

Slightly overpriced

Good location, but you're likely overpaying for the quality of the facility. The size of the one bedroom is nice. They require that you get a parking pass for all visitors no matter the length of visit.

Great for the price

For the price, Westhills is one of the best options in Lawrence. Being able to live alone for around $800 a month is hard to find. Very close to campus, 15/20 minute walk from Green Hall.

West Hills

Overall good. Only one laundry machine set on bottom floor which is annoying. The building itself is pretty old so you will have to call maintenance for repairs more than other places. Other than those complaints, I enjoy it.

Do Not Come Here

West Hills changed management companies as I was living there. The new company is very transphobic and will bend the provisions of the lease to fit their views. Also, the foundations are cracked and warping. To the point where my balcony was at a 15-degree slope; it would not surprise me to find out that it collapsed. On the bright side, it is perfect grounds for training in tort suits.

Great place but overworked management

This complex is absolutely ideal for walking to campus and even downtown, if you don't mind a bit of a walk. The apartments are spacious, and mine had a lot of sunlight. I would not rent a basement unit, though; it seemed moldy and dingy down there whenever I went to do laundry. Like many apartments the cabinetry and bathroom fixtures were dated but in reasonably good condition. My apartment faced the courtyard, and there are a lot of trees. It was also quiet, even during the March basketball madness. Unfortunately, the management company only has one person watching the whole complex, and even though she is friendly, she seems quite overworked. Sometimes maintenance could take a week or two to occur. Additionally, I never received my security deposit back, even though I called many times and the property manager stated that there was no damage.

You get what you pay for

The apartments are of decent qualities for the rent and it tends to be very quiet. However, the maintenance issues and response time can be large. I was without A/C for 3 weeks in July and have been without water for a couple hours without warning. In essence you get what you pay for. The apartments themselves are large and have lots of storage, but the complex is a bit rundown.

Decent Value for Price

The actual apartment is quite large, has a lot of storage, and is quiet. The apartment is old and shows its age (cracks in the ceiling, banged up kitchen cabinets). The management company is normally quick to respond to maintenance requests and issues in the apartment are normally fixed after one request. The property could use some maintenance as there are some potholes in the parking area and the roads around the complex and several of the stairs need to be repaired. Overall, it's a decent apartment for the rent.
