Decent living weird management
Roughy beginning with them because they double sold our apartment but they accommodated to us and help us get moved in as soon as they can. They fix things pretty quickly when you do a maintenance request. I usually find close parking to my apartment. Rent is easy to pay and straight forward

Affordable and well-connected place near central station
For the rent we're paying, it's a good deal. Maintenance service could be much better but the location is great and the apartments are pretty decent too.

Do not rent here
The first year was not bad. However, the second year they left me without a shower for an entire month and it was acceptable to them because I could "take a bath". They also renew your lease without your permission because they add it to the contract and make no exceptions even after leaving you without a shower, not apologizing and then not even as to give you a discount on the next months rent. The management is very poorly professional. They also did nothing to increase security after a random person was able to access the building and start a fire. The building holding all the studio apartments has a long hall connecting the enterences to the studio apartment and two door on either end of the building to get to the hallway there are no locks to the outside doors.

Good, but may be variable.
My apartment unit is in good shape, and we haven’t had major problems so far. Do be warned, maintenance is slow. Meadowbrook includes many buildings and units. I would recommend touring the unit you will rent ahead of time because there seems to be a large range of conditions they are in. It’s very close to KU’s western and main campuses (about 25 minute walk to main part of campus, about 10 to the edge of campus) and right across the street from the bus station, which is great!

Meadowbrook
It's more expensive than it's worth, but that's largely true of renting in general. As always, it'll be cheaper with roommates. For Meadowbrook, your experience will greatly depend on the leasing agent you end up working with, and the office is not the fastest at responding once you're in the system. The buildings themselves are fine but they're not new by any means.

Meadowbrook Apartments
I have enjoyed living at Meadowbrook apartments. It is very close to campus and a very quiet area. The buildings are old so there are some maintenance issues, however the management is quick to fix and willing to work with you to make sure things get resolved. I have lots of space for a one bedroom and will continue to live here.

It's fine, but getting worse and costing more.
For what it is - student housing that's close to campus - I haven't any major complaints about the property itself. Sometimes you have to bother management a couple of times for your maintenance requests to be looked at, but this has happened one time out of five for me, so it's not a major thing.
Rent goes up by ~$30 each year, which is just small enough to not want to bother making one move out, but having lived here for 2 years now, it's enough to be a push factor.
Kind of personal but I've had issues replacing a roommate that flew the coop, and a rigorous and selective application process does mean that if I'm still around after a year (which is dubious) then moving down to a studio will certainly be an Ordeal that I may not want to deal with. It's possible, in other words, that my time at Meadowbrook is ending.
That being said, proximal bus lines, nearness to campus, a fitness center, and a splendid surrounding area are all very strong points in Meadowbrook's favor. Rent is high but I wouldn't say it's unfair -- I just feel the pinch due to the aforementioned roommate situation.

Cozy but could be better
I live alone and have lived in studio apartments before. This is the smallest I have lived in, however, its enough space for just me. They do offer furniture at no extra cost which is very beneficial. They do take care of any problems you have in the unit. However, if they are doing their own repairs on the building, that doesn't involve them going into your apartment, they haven't been good at notifying people. Thus, at times it has been very inconvenient or scary because there is someone outside on your terrace painting or fixing something. The door that allows you to get into the apartment building isn't locked and about a year ago a random person came in and set fire to our stairwell at 4am. You would think at this point they would have some sort of security to keep a stranger from coming in again but they just fixed the carpeting and the walls and that was it. Additionally, when I renewed my lease this last year it went up 50 dollars and as a graduate student I was appauled being that a lot of the student here are undergraduate or graduate students. Reason being is that we are on a stipend or have jobs that don't pay very much to just budget in an extra 50 dollars a month without taking it from somewhere else. I like my apartment and as I mentioned it is very cozy just for me but definitely can do better. However, I do not plan to renew this coming year.

Chelsea Pl
Living in the top floor will be quiet. It might be a little bit noisy if living on the ground floor, especially when the neighbor upstairs is a noisemaker.
The maintenance is not so responsive during peak season. You can get a quick response, if the situation is really urgent.
