Cooper Village

Expensive for what you get. A decent apartment with great convenience since it is right across the street from CMSRU. My unit has a lot of kitchen space and a lot of windows. Rooms are a good size.

However, my unit has had a lot of issues with the sink and bathtub getting clogged multiple times despite maintenance 'fixing' the problem. Our unit does not have much storage space and management is not very responsive to issues.

Other friends of mine who have lived in Cooper Village have had issues with pests (cockroaches, mice) and temperature (heating / AC not working correctly). I think if you get a good unit where you know the problems, it should be fine especially for the convenience.

Cooper Village

I had a very poor experience at Cooper Village. The apartment that they put us in was infested with cockroaches. We had an exterminator come several times, but the problem only intensified. The problem was so severe that I chose to move out. I am currently in the process of moving.

Great if you want to stay local!

I enjoy the convenience of how close my apartment is to the medical school. I like the layout of my apartment and I have a great view of the city.

Great apartment, absurd pricing

The apartment itself is great. It's beautifully done inside, very clean and modern, and has most of the furnishings that you could want. However, the property management is exceptionally rude and they definitely take advantage of the students who live here. The rent has been steadily increasing despite me staying in the same apartment for the last 3 years, and they refuse to include the utilities, forcing students to manage it all on their own. For the value provided by the apartment, the price is absurdly high, as it is on par with proper Philadelphia apartment pricing. Meanwhile, the apartments next door to us (managed by different companies) are priced at $400-500 per person per month. A 2x increase in price is not acceptable for the same area/apartment building style.

Cooper Village

The apartment itself is great! Very bright, spacious, fairly modern, and can’t beat being pre-furnished (especially given the lack of stairs in my building). It is super convenient for me with school and the hospital being right there. Property management is very responsive to needs and requests as well. You are able to hear all of the street noises so it can get loud especially at night but I guess that’s called living in a city. However I can barely hear my neighbors in their apartments so the interior walls are solid. It is pretty basic, not a whole lot of amenities, but that’s not super important to me (I am just happy to have a washer-dryer in unit!) There are always police officers and security guards around as well, which is nice given that it is not the safest area. Super close to WRTC as well.

Great location for Cooper affiliates but expensive, no amenities, and cockroaches

My roommate and I have had baby cockroaches since the day we moved in. We have contacted management and the exterminator has come 2 times. There has been no improvement. This apartment is very expensive despite no amenities and a persistent cockroach problem. I pay for electric, gas, water, and wifi separately. There is no gym or other amenities. This apartment is extremely convenient for the location and it is nice that it is fully furnished.

Review

Apartment itself is nice with lots of sunlight, in house washer dryer. Building issues include significant trash overload causing fly infestations and smell in apartment. Mail system is completely unreliable
