Do not live here

Frequent maintenance issues which take a while to fix. The fire alarm goes off unnecessarily at least once a month, usually in the morning. The wifi will go down sometimes and there's no after-hours person to contact if something goes wrong.

Incompetent management

Building isn't the worst, location is pretty good but maintenance, communication and have been downright shambolic. I often wish I were in a standalone house so I could just fix issues myself.

* Elevators down multiple times, once for 7 days. This is a 10-story building.

* WiFi frequently down, often for as long as 24 hours. You're required to use the building's central WiFi and not your own router (which makes it difficult to connect wireless devices other than laptops). Internet outages cause all sorts of knock-on problems with "smart" thermostats, package pickup, etc.

* Other tenants have complained about mold issues which were not quickly remediated

* Getting in touch with the landlord/management, about any issue, is nearly impossible by phone, email etc. They do not adhere to their stated business hours.

* Area is very noisy and bright, and walls/curtains are thin.

The apartment is a ripoff and the company lied to us to get us to sign

It is a new building so there are some issues that are to be expected. However, the real issue is with the management company which nickle and dimes us at every opportunity. They don't fix things promptly and they are legitimately hostile when we bring issues to them.

They also blatantly either lied to us or misled us into signing our lease. They promised us a monthly rate that seemed pretty good because we got a month free so it came out to not that much compared to our last place. It was a new building and supposedly nicer so we thought it would be great. Turns out they lied to us about there being a monthly rate and they actually charge 12 installments of rent for 11 actual months. They call it a 'housing contract'. There's not much we can do because we signed the contract, but it is beyond shady.

Would strongly advise people not to live here and I think the school should too.

Also they told us we would have a balcony and we don't even have windows that open. Like none of the rooms have openable windows.

Overpriced for Its Amenities and similar listings

I won't be renewing my lease. This was a last-ditch effort to get an apartment in Ann Arbor because I decided to attend UMMS very last minute. I decided just to take the risk with a more expensive unit than to be scrambling for housing. I think for the price they are charging you can find better units with more amenities and closer to the medical school. The upside is that it is in a bustling area with fewer undergrads and an excellent gym. ALSO, beware, you are paying in installments so if your lease says move-in is August 27th, you will pay for all of August regardless so it is predatory in that way!
