clean but noisy
The apartment is fine with basic equipments in the rooms, the biggest problem is the noise. With thin wooden floor and ceiling, you can hear almost anything of your neighbor.

Solid place close to school and grocery story
The apartment is solid. It's definitely not fancy or new, but it's in a great location (2 minute to 99 Ranch, 5 minute walk to the BruinBus bus stop, 7 minute walk to Westwood). It is fairly spacious, with a good-sized living room (the kitchen is on the smaller side). We have not had problems with plumbing, electricity, or any other utilities. In addition, it is close to Westwood Blvd and somewhat close to Wilshire Blvd, so the amount of traffic noise can be a little high at times. However, I haven't had any problems with it during bed time.
