Decent value

Older building but excellent management team and staff that are very attentive. Building amenities and apartment features are dated and need upgrading, but decent building overall in an excellent location.

Maximizing Value at 2400 Chestnut

Makes the commute to campus that much easier (6 minutes on my bike). Also great access to train station (5 min walk). Little further from Rittenhouse but you get a bigger apartment for cheaper. Gym downstairs isn't the greatest but good for a workout on cold days. Really friendly and helpful doormem. Only downside is high electrical bills because of inefficent AC/heaters. Great big kitchen and large living rooms. Also awesome views looking out over the Schuykill and West Philly. Building is a bit older but overall a perfect fit.

Very convenient location (24th street and Chestnut street.)

You can go to Walnut 2401 in 3 minutess and Wharton's new pub location in 3 minutes. Although it takes less than 20 minutes to go to school by walk, this apartment provides shuttle bus service to the school (stops in front of Huntsman) every 15-20 minutes in the morning and from the school (stops at 37th and Spruce). This is very convenient. Monthly parking is available at $150 per month (I believe this is the lowest in the city). Front desk person serves 24/7.

I love my apartment

The bathroom isn't as great as I'd like but the closet space is awesome. It's a studio and I have one 5 foot wide closet, two 4 foot wide closets, a 3 foot wide closet and a storage closet that is about 4 by 6 feet. They also market a shuttle that drives students to and from campus but it doesn't actually have enough seats for everyone before classes in the morning.

Pros: Great building management, reasonable rent, and a shuttle to campus! Cons: Slightly older building and distance from Rittenhouse Square.

I really like living here - the building management is great and the rent is reasonable. There is a daily shuttle to and from campus which is fantastic in the winter! The location is conveniently close to Pub, 2401 Chestnut (literally across the parking lot), Trader Joe's and the train station. I also like that the kitchen is very spacious, and allows both my roommate and me to cook at the same time. Granted, many of the other buildings come with nicer amenities such as a better gym, hardwood floors, common roof areas, etc., but for the rent, I think it's hard to do better than 2400 Chestnut. The one minus I would point to is the location -- we are a little bit further from Rittenhouse Square than many of the other popular Wharton buildings, and the last two blocks on Chestnut are a little bit quiet at night.

Perfect location for 2401 Walnut, Pub and Amtrak train station! Best value for money!

Excellent! 1-minute walk to 2401 Walnut and Pub (Amory), no other building can beat that!! Free shuttle bus every morning from the building to campus, runs every 20 minutes. You don't want to walk in a cold winter or wait for the bus that is usually full by the time it gets to 23rd Walnut! Doormen takes good care of package deliveries. Choose a higher floor to enjoy a better view and avoid the noise from the trains and highways.

The location is unbeatable with close proximity to more action in Rittenhouse, the Schuylkill for running, and a short commute to school/the hospital. Trader Joe's is ~10 minute walk from my house, but there are also a few other smaller grocery stores nearby. It's a very family friendly area with folks of all different ages and tons of dogs.
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
This spot is perfect -- closer to campus, near the train station, huge spaces, kind and helpful staff, cool-looking building, new gym, beautiful park nearby, and overall easy and awesome loft-style living experience. I think people will pressure to have to live on Rittenhouse because that's what everyone immediately says to do, but in reality you can live near Rittenhouse (Locust on the Park is just a 5 minute walk to the square) and not miss out on anything. Fitler Square is beautiful, quiet, and still a perfect location.
Pros: close to school as well as all the fun stuff downtown (Schuylkill River Trail, restaurants, bars, museums, theaters, shopping, you name it!); very safe even walking alone late at night; lots of other students here
Cons: Trader Joe's is the only real grocery store here and may have limited selection for those looking for a supermarket; not as quiet or "neighborhood-y" as other areas, as it is in the heart of downtown; there is a freight train that runs along the river that can be loud, though I got used to it quickly
