Best value for money

Great building with free shuttle to campus, free washing machine + dryer, wifi in conference room and gym. Very helpful and friendly staff. Literally next door to 2401 Walnut. One of the buildings with the best value for money in Center City. Only downside is it's a bit far from the shopping and dining area in Rittenhouse Square (~18th & Walnut), but all the other perks more than made up for it.

Love the building and the convenient shuttle to campus!

Good location - 20 minutes walk from Huntsman Hall and most places in center city The building has a shuttle bus every morning to campus which is very useful The staff are very helpful and any problems with the apartments get resolved quickly One bedroom rooms are a good size Only real downside is that apartments facing the river can be quite noisy, even on the higher levels

Love the building, but the apartments are a little small

Very good building management Convenient location about a mile from campus and a quick walk to downtown; rite aid a block away, trader joe's about 3 blocks away; 7 minute walk to 30th st station Cheap garage parking Reasonable price Decent in building gym Apartments are a bit small, and have older kitchens and bathrooms, but are priced accordingly. Free laundry on each floor is nice, but not the same as having the machines in unit. West of 22nd is a relatively quiet area at night

Excellent staff and amazing management!

Very convenient to school, and the free shuttle makes it even better. 2400 Chestnut had a great staff and was a good value for the size and amenities vs. price. There is also a free shuttle to campus, free gym, free satellite TV, and free laundry on every floor. Overall, I've loved living at 2400 Chestnut!

Love 2400 Chestnut!

I love my apartment in 2400 Chestnut. Pros: * My studio apartment is very spacious and has lots of windows light and a great view of the city. * Apartment is in very good condition and very clean. * Management of the building is superb - friendly, responsive and extremely helpful; and the maintenance staff fixes any problems you might have the day-of (unless it's the weekend). * Utilities included in rent, except for electricity. * Free gym and free laundry on each floor. There's also a shuttle bus that goes to and from University Campus (you can also take a comfortable 15-20min walk to school). * It is conveniently located 12 a block away from 2401 Walnut and a block away from the Armory (where Pub will be held); a block away from Rite Aid and 3 blocks from Trader Joe's. Cons: * The only downside is that it is not in the center of Rittenhouse Square and a bit far from many restaurants; it's around a 10-15min walk away. However, that also means that rent is a bit more reasonable (esp. for the space that you get) for than the buildings in Rittenhouse Square.

Fitler Square Reviews

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
