Commute a Headache but Rent Worth It

One draw back to living so far from campus is that the commute can be frustrating and time consuming. But compared to what I would pay and get closet to campus, I find that for what I pay in rent and what I get in amenities, square footage, etc. more than offsets any commuting frustrations.

Spacious and modern, with lots of neighbors

AVA still has that new car smell, and is still working out the kinks. The amenities are terrific for the price, and the atmosphere and neighborly attitude in the building is wonderful. Some of the repair service is sub-par from the management level down, and the noise can be a little much with very little sound proofing in the building. Overall a great place in a great location for the right price.

AVA H Street

Great building management, but for the price, the units are small and not well lit. Bathrooms are a good size. Appliances are new and appear to be the latest models. Close to public transit, coffee shops, grocery store, H street cooridor bars/restaurants.

Younger and Modern

Moving to Ava H street right after college was a great decision. The environment for the building is young and fun without trying too hard. They offer a variety of floor plans and are very close to everything I could need. There are tons of bars and restaurants in the area that are great and not too expensive. The Giant is in walking distance. The staff is amazingly accommodating and gracious. The single time we had something break in the apartment the manager came right away and took care of it. The building is incredibly pet-friendly, and there are tons of dogs. The outside patio has a fire pit and a well-kept grill area that are perfect for bringing the friends over. 10/10 would recommend.

Great place, rent goes up too fast!

My roommate and I were so excited to find something nice we could (barely) afford. But then, the rent went from $2485 to $2685 after the first year. We were already at the edge of what we could afford and we decided to move somewhere smaller and cheaper and less close to amenities. It's sad that people with full-time professional jobs still can't afford to live in DC. :(

H Street Corridor Reviews

H Street Corridor is a great option. It is close to downtown, and has a growing number of bars and restaurants. There are a few grocery stores nearby, with more to come. It can be noisy if near actual H Street, but plenty of quieter, residential areas just a few blocks away. It is fairly safe, but as in most areas, you should be aware of your surroundings.
It's a fast-growing, transitioning neighborhood with plenty of bars and restaurants. Will undoubtedly be one of the best neighborhoods in DC in 10 years.
It's a good area, closer to school than people realize.
The H Street Corridor has a lot to offer - restaurants, bars, botique gyms, grocery stores, etc. - however, at times the neighborhood doesn't feel as safe as other parts of the city.
Love the H Street Corridor. There is so much to do and many new restaurants and bars popping up. I do a bit dread the new found popularity and high rises popping up everywhere.
The apartment is on H Street in H Street Corridor. H Street is a historic DC neighborhood and has anything I would ever need within walking district. There are awesome restaurants and bars, and a nightlife scene for those who are into it.
Very social and I don’t feel unsafe
Close proximity to union station and groceries. Lots of restaurants and bars around. Yearly H St festival, felt safe around the area
