Good value

1 mile from campus. Includes gym and pool as amenities. For a large apartment complex with amenities, it's probably the best value for the area.

Great Place to Live!

I love living at Ava Ballston, it has everything I could want! Maintenance requests (which are infrequent, but they sometimes happen) are always resolved quickly (within a day or two). Management is very responsive, and have both email and in-person options. The amenities are amazing, and include a pool, gym, outdoor relaxation areas, grills, and work from home rooms! I've never had a problem with hearing neighbors or feeling too hot/cold in my apartment, and it really just feels like home! Plus, I'm about a 2 minute walk from a metro station and a 5 minute walk from a shopping mall with an underground food market (it has like 10 amazing restaurants). I genuinely love every part of my apartment, and I would recommend that anyone live here!

Great full-service building!

We have lived at AVA Ballston for two years now, and we've really enjoyed the community. The amenities are wonderful and the building itself is always really well-kept. Everything is pretty convenient, and the management is always incredibly helpful. The only downside is that the pet fees and parking fees are pretty expensive - more than other buildings we've seen. As a couple who can share a 1BR, this building is just barely affordable. But the location and services are worth it to us!

AVA Ballston is a great hidden gem

Although not located on the main strip in Ballston (Fairfax Drive), AVA Ballston is Arlington's best kept secret. It's still walking distance to the metro, but MUCH more affordable than the high rises around it. Staff is super friendly & helpful. Nice little gym and other great amenities too!

No complaints with apartment complex, make sure the location is what you want

Located right next to the highway, this location seems better suited for someone who has a car. The rooms and amenities seem on par with else is offered in the area (Free gym, pool in the summer, lounge). 8 minute walk to the metro with free shuttle offered in the morning and afternoon.Management has been very quick to address the 2 repairs we requested.

About Ballston

Living in the suburbs and still finding a vibrant city a few blocks away is what Ballston is all about. Reach the city with great ease, and find some great restaurants such as the Tutto Bene and the Caribbean Breeze, or maybe the Taste of Arlington Annual Street Fair. If that is not appealing enough...

Getting around Ballston

Ballston Reviews

49 reviews
I enjoy my neighbors and the common crowd around this area is young professionals it seems. We are close to george mason university and marymount college, so there is sometimes a younger crowd in the area as well. We do have some houses around the area that I have seen mainly have newly established families (i.e. little kids or new to the area) and I feel safe walking around my area at night.
I personally like being in Arlington. Everything is walkable and while it's not DC proper, it's very easy to get into the city via metro or a quick drive in. I've run to Georgetown in 20-30 minutes. There's stuff to do and there's everything you could need: gyms, grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, bars so close by. Ballston is a hub for transport so buses and the metro abound.
It can be a little noisy if you're too close to Wilson, Glebe or Fairfax roads, especially if you're right above the bus stop like I am, but nothing light background noise can't drown out; I sleep with a fan and I sleep like a baby. The public transport can't be beat, and it seems like a new restaurant opens every day. I'm interested in looking at houses in the area when I can afford to buy!
Ballston is by far one of the best areas of Arlington to live in. It has tons of access to bars, food, shopping, and a social scene, without being too loud of an area.
We are right across from Ballston Quarter which has a Union Market type of food court. The area is developing so quickly, very trendy and everything is within walking distance. Even though it's very walkable it does not feel as congested as DC.
I definitely feel that it's up and coming-- so much construction and many new restaurants and shops popping up! IT's very walkable. It's also pretty safe and it's close to highways, the Potomac, to DC, etc so the location is pretty great.
I love living in Ballston. I don’t have a car and never feel like I need one. Richmond Square is a block from the metro to take me into DC, and there are plenty of places to eat and things to do right here in Ballston.
Great spot for young people. There are tons of amazing restaurants and bars nearby that you can walk to. Also only a short metro ride to DC.
