Ballston Place Review

My time at Ballston Place has been great! The 10 minute walk to the GMU Arlington campus is incredibly convenient and the Apartment layout has been very valuable an accommodating to a law student . Some of the apartment requires updating, but it is good value for the price.

Love our Apt

Have lived here for 3 years now and really love the building (even through a management change). Close to lots of transit, parking is low cost for the area ($70/month). When we lived in a 1 bed 1 bath it was $1800 700 sq feet and now we live in a 1 bed w/ den 1.5 bath almost 1000 sq feet for $2400. They are very pet friendly, the rare maintenance issues are fixed quickly and well. We're getting Amazon lockers in the building, and the concierge holds all our packages currently. They're also renovating the pool area for next summer (2020).

Great place to live

I really enjoy having a front desk that collects our packages for us and is responsive when we call about issue. They make the building feel very safe

The building is clean, homey, and modern (but not too modern). I also love our pool!

Mediocre living conditions

Water pressure isn't that great, water isn't hot enough. I will try to look for another apartment complex next year

Great for quiet living

No pests problem, never hear neighbors or landlord, but literally got a noise complaint the first night I moved in for playing moderately loud music at 9p on a Friday

Best Managed Building

This Avalon is the most amazing building, everyone who works there is lovely. If we even have an issue it is fixed with in the day. Plus they have gas stoves!

Great Place to Live Very Pet Friednly

The building is a little older than the new ones in the neighborhood which makes rent a little more reasonable. It's a great location with all the amenities you could want pool, gym, club room. Not all residents though are great about cleaning up after their pets.

Great place to live

The Avalon Ballston is a really great place to live! Our 2 bedroom apartment is roughly $2,000 a month which is a lot cheaper than most buildings in DC. The location is right next to the Orange and the Silver line which is great if you work in McLean or Tyson's Corner but want to be able to get into DC in the evenings and on the weekend. The building also has some great common amenities and management and the staff are fantastic.

Love Avalon Management

First of all, Avalon management is the absolute best- anything from maintenance requests to moving in they take care of right away and the staff are very polite. The luxury highrise is really nice when it comes ti amenities too: great gym, party rooms, and everything is so nice and clean.

About Ballston

Living in the suburbs and still finding a vibrant city a few blocks away is what Ballston is all about. Reach the city with great ease, and find some great restaurants such as the Tutto Bene and the Caribbean Breeze, or maybe the Taste of Arlington Annual Street Fair. If that is not appealing enough...

Getting around Ballston

Ballston Reviews

49 reviews
I enjoy my neighbors and the common crowd around this area is young professionals it seems. We are close to george mason university and marymount college, so there is sometimes a younger crowd in the area as well. We do have some houses around the area that I have seen mainly have newly established families (i.e. little kids or new to the area) and I feel safe walking around my area at night.
I personally like being in Arlington. Everything is walkable and while it's not DC proper, it's very easy to get into the city via metro or a quick drive in. I've run to Georgetown in 20-30 minutes. There's stuff to do and there's everything you could need: gyms, grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, bars so close by. Ballston is a hub for transport so buses and the metro abound.
It can be a little noisy if you're too close to Wilson, Glebe or Fairfax roads, especially if you're right above the bus stop like I am, but nothing light background noise can't drown out; I sleep with a fan and I sleep like a baby. The public transport can't be beat, and it seems like a new restaurant opens every day. I'm interested in looking at houses in the area when I can afford to buy!
Ballston is by far one of the best areas of Arlington to live in. It has tons of access to bars, food, shopping, and a social scene, without being too loud of an area.
We are right across from Ballston Quarter which has a Union Market type of food court. The area is developing so quickly, very trendy and everything is within walking distance. Even though it's very walkable it does not feel as congested as DC.
I definitely feel that it's up and coming-- so much construction and many new restaurants and shops popping up! IT's very walkable. It's also pretty safe and it's close to highways, the Potomac, to DC, etc so the location is pretty great.
I love living in Ballston. I don’t have a car and never feel like I need one. Richmond Square is a block from the metro to take me into DC, and there are plenty of places to eat and things to do right here in Ballston.
Great spot for young people. There are tons of amazing restaurants and bars nearby that you can walk to. Also only a short metro ride to DC.
