Oakland Ave Apt

Cheap, simple, no frills apartment. Landlord is responsive. Very close to Ross School (4min walk). In a nice part of town, mostly under grads though, so can get loud on game days/Friday + Saturday nights.

Great price, Great location, Needs Updating

Has not been updated in a long time - definitely has a 70s vibe, but the space is great, it's a 3 minute walk away from Ross and the building itself is pretty calm. Close to frats, so it gets noisy on game days.

Solid college housing close to school!

Overall a great place to spend 2 years at Ross! I can easily get back and forth to school in <5 minutes, helpful to cook lunch or change into interview clothes and never feel trapped in the winter garden. Pretty basic student apartment but everything works and Helmut (landlord) is responsive. This is not a luxury new apartment (if you want that look at Foundry, The Yard, 618) but if you want a solid cheap place it's hard to beat.

1.5 of 3 ain't bad

You can pick 1. Luxury 2. Cheap or 3. Close to Ross. This is extremely close to Ross (I've been able to briskly walk home and back during the 10 minute break during class) and is relatively inexpensive compared to other options. The building is a bit old but everything works, I feel very safe here, off street parking is a huge plus, and the landlord is a good dude.

The walls are a bit thing, but no so badly that it's been a problem (especially since there are few if any undergrads here)

Good apt, great value, close to Ross

Less than 5 minute walk to Ross. Undergrad neighborhood but landlord only rents to grad students. Landlord is awesome - responds to requests very quickly. Apt somewhat outdated but everything works well. Great value, great landlord, great location (in terms of being close to Ross).

Older but very convenient

I've really enjoyed living at 1016; the apartment hasn't been updated since the 70s, but there is good space and it has the huge benefit of being within a 5 minute walk to school which is great if you want to stop home for lunch or to change. The landlord is nice and responsive. It's an all grad student building - although it is right across from a lot of undergrad houses and can be loud football weekends.

Horrible Landlord

The apartment has paper-thin walls. Some neighbors complained about our noise volume, and instead of letting us know that they had an issue, the landlord threatened to throw us out of our apartment. Would NOT recommend. I'm moving out after this year.

great experience

this has been the best renting experience i've had my entire life. after living in nyc for 7 years and dealing with nightmare management companies, renting from mr. unger has been a pleasure. he is understanding, on time and efficient. if i need anything, i can get in touch with him immediately and he sends someone to fix it. things work, i've never had any kind of bugs, and i feel safe. the building is only for graduate students and he does that on purpose so that it remains "quiet." i live alone but there are couples and roommates in the building. the property itself is very simple and he is up front about the fact that he doesn't really restore the apartment while you have it; however, like i said, he will always fix things or reasonably talk with you about whatever complaint you have (for example, he installed new sliding doors for the balcony this summer that i didn't ask for and they are GREAT). part of the reason for that is because he agrees to not increase the rent if you renew, and he looks for tenants that will stay over time. there is a lot of natural sunlight and the apartment itself is cute. no pets or smoking allowed and he's pretty strict about that. i'm also a five minute walk from the law school and you can't beat that. my only complaint about the building is that it is so close to frats and it can be really noisy on game days.

Not fancy, but convenient and well priced

Older complex, but relatively quiet with almost all graduate students in the building. Great value for a 4 minute walk from Ross.

Can head upstairs neighbor’s every move. Not sure if it’s the building or they are related to Sasquatch
