Awful experience

The sunrooms which are in every single apartment cause EXCESSIVE bills. 10 foot tall wrap around windows are not proper insulation and will cause your AC bills in the Summer and your heating bills in the Winter to easily be double or triple what they should normally be. The sunroom itself is inconvenient to use due to the extreme temperature difference in that room.

The maintenance is hilarious. The apartment complex's maintenance team will try to insist that you pick up the tools and do the repairs yourself. I am not kidding, you have to argue with them that you are not a handyman and will not do repairs for them. The sprinkler system also leaked and ruined some of my possessions as the building is shoddily built.

Construction occurring across the street, I've been woken up by hammers, dump trucks, you name it. I asked the office if there was anything that could be done and they gaslighted me saying "Sir, no one else is experiencing this noise issue" as there's a jackhammer going off in the distance.

The parking spots in the garage, which they charge $100 each a month for, were deficiently designed and as a result they are far too narrow. Damage to your car is likely.

Don't know if it's for all floors, but on the ground floor roaches were a thing.

If something is out of service, expect it to remain that way for weeks or months. We're talking garage doors not working, elevators not working, pieces of equipment in the gym not working.

The TVs in the 'Club Room' do not work. Wanted to watch the game with friends up there? Nah, you can't. TV outside by the garden? Nope.

Concierge frequently puts up a sign that they are 'out on the premises' and leaves for 30 - 45 minutes, no way to get your package.

Frequent noise in the garden area has been a regular complaint. The pool is awful and is a maximum of 3 feet deep.

At one point, I received dozens of different apartment's gas bills. I went to the office about this and it continued for weeks until I called the gas company & the post office several times and implored them to stop mailing me other residents bills because the office did nothing about it.

My unit had the old 90s spiral stove top burners which aren't exactly what you'd expect from a $2K+ a month apartment.

They put in your lease that if you ever want the privilege of moving out of their shoddy apartment complex, you have to pay them over $5k.

So anyway, if you're thinking about choosing the Meridian at Braddock, enjoy living there.

Great apartment

More space for less money than in DC, right next to the entrance to the GW Parkway and a block from the Braddock Road metro station. Walking distance to King Street and the river. All apartments have a huge sunroom.

Great Spot if you're willing to commute.

Pay a little more, but have over 950 sq ft, dog park, dog wash station, friendly area, lots of space for the dog, sun room acts as an office. Have the perks of DC about 20 min metro away with quiet and space of non-city life.

The Meridian Rocks

I love this apartment complex. It is a little far from school, but you save so much money, they are super pet friendly, and it is nice to have a life off campus.

Love our Apartment

We have lived here over 2 years! The location is central between our offices, super close to the metro, great sunlight in the apartment, and the one we are in has great closet space. Over the past two years the increase in rent isn't terrible, I have heard of worse from my friends.

Unless we move closer to the city this is where we are staying!

Clean, well-located, well-managed, but overpriced.

We have been at the Meridian at Braddock Station for several years now, and overall we have had a good experience living here.

The best thing about it is the location, literally right next to the Braddock Metro station, and right next to route 1 if driving--only a few minutes from 495. It's about 5 minutes down the road from all the shopping available at Potomac Yards, and 5 minutes up the road from all the bars and restaurants available on King Street in Old Town.

The place seems to be pretty well managed compared to any other apartment community we've ever lived in. Problems with the amenities in the common areas tend to be fixed promptly, as do any problems with plumbing/hvac/etc in our unit. The lobby and halls are kept clean. We've never seen an insect in our unit, or heard of any insect problems anywhere in the building.

Most of the staff we have dealt with have made a clear effort to be personable and to get to know us by name, and make sure we are well taken care of. Not only do they do a good job with service but seem to enjoy being there. The general manager has been the only person who we've had a less than stellar experience dealing with.

My main criticism would be the layout and quality of the actual apartment units themselves. The ceilings are very low throughout most of the apartments, giving a slightly cramped feel. The interior wall construction uses metal studs rather than wooden ones so it is a real pain in the butt to hang or anchor furniture, drapes, large pictures, etc. With our particular floorplan, the HVAC unit sits right behind the living room wall and it is extremely loud when it cuts on, to the point where we're often forced to turn off the AC and simply let the apartment get hot if we want to be able to hear whatever we are trying to watch on television. During the winter months, the bedrooms, especially our corner bedroom, tend to get very cold even with the heat on due to extremely drafty windows. Noise insulation both within and between units also leaves a lot to be desired.

My final criticism is pricing. I understand that with good location comes a premium price, but their rental amounts are significantly higher than comparable offerings we've seen in the local market. I think that for the quality and size of the apartments, the value falls short for the amounts they are asking; they are charging more of a luxury apartment rate for what are pretty basic apartments.

Great Value for the area

Meridian is one of the better buildings in North Old Town. The price is average if not slightly below market average, even with all the newer buildings going up. So close to the metro and night life. Lots of new stuff opening on the north OT side, easy access to groceries, food and fune

Getting around Old Town

Old Town Reviews

I love the neighborhood. Although Old Town is in the suburbs, it feels like like a mini city, and almost everywhere I want to go is within walking distance. There are great restaurants and bars a few blocks, we're close to the river, there are multiple parks nearby. There is a Whole Foods a block away from my building, and it takes me less than 10 minutes to walk to the King Street Metro station. I also have a dog, and there are so many dog parks and dog-friendly businesses in the area.
Pros:
- Safe, nearby grocery store, pet friendly, pool, close to restaurants, diverse in income types and styles of homes, etc.

Cons: Section 8 housing, a lot of people for a tiny pool.
Lots of new development populated by yuppies and hip new businesses/restaurants, mixed in with pockets of section-8 housing and shady groups of people walking the streets.
Absolutely love it. So many friendly people and fun restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc. Feels like you are apart of a community and very easy to meet people.
Public transportation is excellent. Really don't need a car. Holmes Run Park great for running and bicycling. Restaurants, shopping and malls within 5 miles.
Close to DC and other Virginia cities... good public transport... not as young and fratty as Arlington but still plenty of social opportunities... Love it
This is an awesome area. It is lots of fun to explore and a nice change from being in the city for school all the time.
Old Town is great! So many restaurants, bars, shopping, parks, and hiking. Easy to walk to all the shops on King Street, and super close (walkable) to two metro stops, Braddock Road and King Street. Commute to Foggy Bottom via metro is only about 30 minutes, and it is a straight trip on the blue line from Braddock Road to Foggy Bottom-GWU.
