Construction work is INSANE and nonstop

While it is an affordable building on an amazing location, it is not a quiet building. You can hear how people slam doors and all of that at night. But the worst thing is the construction work that started 8 months ago and has not stopped. It is the most disruptive thing ever and if you work from home, it is awful. They should disclose that before moving so you know what you are getting into.
Sometimes you’ll get roaches and the heating system isn’t that great. The gym is very small.
The good thing are people at the front desk and workers, they are very nice.

Great Location & Building, for Reasonable $

I live in a 1 bedroom in the Riverwest Condos. Each apartment is owned condo owners so the level of renovation per unit varies based on your owner. The location is great and the building is extremely safe with 24/7 doormen. Its an older building so it has its quirks like the heating and ac. Its also not smoke free. But overall, incredible value for money.

Bang for your buck - worth it!

My apartment is not a luxury apartment but it is very nice, pretty up to date, and absolutely worth it given its price, amenities, and location. All utilities included is a blessing as I only have to pay one monthly bill. Maintenance and the overall living experience can be very landlord dependent and luckily I have an excellent landlord. All the problems I have encountered are normal city living issues that have been corrected in time through the management company or my landlord. If you are a normal person or low-income, this is an excellent apartment. If you come from wealth you may be unhappy as you may be used to better luxuries like in unit washer/dryer and a newer gym.

Riverwest is great

Riverwest is perfectly located for commuting to the law school from Center City. Building staff is extremely nice. Units are condos owned by individual landlords so experiences may vary. Only negative is that there can be considerable disruptions from water stoppages and construction, though those may be temporary; walls are quite thick and noise levels low for Center City overall.

Cheap and Functional

This condo building is much cheaper than surrounding apartments. The location is great. The quality of apartment's is based on individual condo owner. Mine was definitely very dirty when I first got it. Has some maintenance issues. Very spacious and lot's of natural light.

Friendly older building in a great spot

Very friendly staff! Older building so some issues like drainage (no garbage disposals) but maintenance staff responsive to work orders. Some water/electricity maintenance means it’s sometimes turned off during the day (during the work) and we’re notified in advance via email. Building has gym with dumbbells and some cardio machines - not huge but gets the job done. In a really handy location (5 minute walk to target and TJ’s) and super close to a bunch of restaurants.

Everything you need + great view

Perfect location, solid gym, mailroom, etc. All utilities included. It's not as new as the other luxury buildings, but still quite nice. All condos so very unit specific

Very Nice Building - Experience Varies by Landlord

Units in this building are owned by different landlord. Mine is great and I have had no issues with the building itself, I only wish it had bike storage.

Most cost effective given location

Riverwest is one of the most cost-effective buildings to live in. If you don't care about amenities (e.g. mediocre gym, no pool) and don't mind the oldness of the building, it's the cheapest place you can get while living by yourself or with one roommate.

Do keep your drains always covered though. Because the building is old, you don't want roaches to crawl through the drain on the odd occassion

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
