Highland View-Great location and value, okay apartments

Highland View is in an excellent location. The apartments are okay, but management team is not always responsive. The apartment is beginning to take steps to improve the property, but there are minimal amenities. I would rate this complex on the lower end of apartments I have lived in, but the location/rent value is hard to beat.

The location in the Virginia Highlands--especially this apartment--is excellent. It's in the middle of the four hospitals we work at and the commute isn't bad at all, even during rush hour (other than the VA, but you don't spend as much time there during the year). It is pricey, but you pay extra money for being in such a great location on the belt-line and having shortened commutes. You can pay more for a location further away and more space, but I think the commute team is super important when considering daily well being and having more free time.

Great for married couples

It is an older place and has a normal amount of normal apartment living problems but the location is pretty much unbeatable and we happened to have a good skyline view.

Convenient Location

There are very little perks to living in this complex aside from the location. The beltline is the main draw to moving here, and the Ponce City Market right across the street. Also, you are walking distance from Trader Joes, Kroger, many restaurants and Piedmont Park. Other than that, the apartments are very meh. Not very large, do not come with washer and dryer, and the parking situation is difficult.

Highland View

This apartment is in the perfect location, right on the beltline! The 1 bedroom we are in is refurbished so we have updated appliances. I am pretty satisfied with the overall condition of the apartment but for $1599 a month, I would like real tile in the kitchen and bathroom versus the linoleum - it makes it look cheap! One other con, if you put in a maintenance request, they are 80% likely to not get back to you until you make another request - very annoying.

Meh

This place is in an amazing location, but the rent is very expensive for what you get. The gym is so tiny- one treadmill and one piece of equipment. The parking lot is almost always full, and even residents get booted when not parked in a space. The apartment layout is very basic and small for what you pay. But you are paying for location only. Overall, I love living here for the fact that the beltline is in the backyard, but other than that there isn't much to offer.

Large homeless population nearby

I like this apartmnet complex, nice and conveniently located. What i don't like is there are way too many homeless people hanging around. They are harmless in general, but the most annoying thing is they'd ask for a cigerratte every time you pass by! I'm a guy and i don't mind, I would not feel comfortable to let my girlfriend walk there by herself at night.

Getting around Virginia Highland

Virginia Highland Reviews

17 reviews
The neighborhood is great and my apartment unit is within walking distance of several coffee shops/sandwich places/bookstores/etc. The intersection of Virginia and N. Highland has dozens of places to eat and several sports bars for nightlife.
Pros:

Quiet, attractive homes and neighborhood, great proximity to Emory and all other in-town neighborhoods, can spend the entire weekend without using your car if you wanted, tons of bars and restaurants around.

Cons:

Vibe of bars / restaurants is more casual / low key / divey so if you are looking for something more high end and urban in terms of high rises and newer build, I would look at Midtown or Buckhead.

I think this is an ideal neighborhood. Inman Park might be the only other area I would consider above the Highlands.
The neighborhood is wonderful! There are plenty of things to walk to, and it seems very close to all of the other neighborhoods in Atlanta. The beltline is basically in my backyard, so that is a huge plus as well.
My neighborhood is very walkable and has a bunch of restaurants/ bars near by. It also has very easy access to the Beltline which you can take to Krog St. Market, Piedmont Park, or Ponce City Market.
VaHi is a perfect launching point to get to campus quickly (5-10mins) as well as walk to attractions like Ponce City Market, the Beltline, and all the bars students are likely to go to. I've got beautiful houses, an abundance of uber drivers, and a lot of history in the neighborhood. It's perfectly located to quickly get anywhere in town. The only downside is that crime as gotten worse in the neighborhood since I've lived there with more car break-ins and late night muggings, but I think that's true across Atlanta.
Walkable, lots of restaurants/bars/coffee shops/stores nearby.
Virginia Highlands is the perfect location if you are looking for a quiet neighborhood close to everything Atlanta has to offer. Great restaurants, nightlife and close the Beltline for all your workout needs.
