Venice Barry

This apartment is an amazing value in West LA. Lots of space, great floorplan and walk in closet. Everything is being renovated and the space is really nice.

The neighborhood is trendy and in walking distance to a lot of great things like the farmers market and bars/restaurants.

Amazing Value

I live in the Junior 1 Bedroom. My apartment is a really large compared to those I have lived in in Boston, NYC, or the Bay Area. The place feels like a regular apt building: unfurnished, not much partying, etc. The price is unbeatable if you want to live alone or with a partner. I have heard some units are dark and cold, but mine is really sunny and the perfect temperature almost all year with no need for climate control. Mar Vista is a bit quiet, but there is a nice little walkable strip with a few restaurants, bars, and a coffee shop.

Venice Barry apartements

The apartment itself is great, it's much bigger than the studio options of university apartments (more than double in space) and cost much less. The big issue for someone without a car is, that the apartment is very far from campus and from all the places to go out. The closest grocery store is about 20 minutes away by foot and there is almost nothing around.
There is a university shuttle that takes you straight to campus, but any other public transportation to campus and other areas is not very close.

Good value and quiet

University is the best value in the area. Very decent room: clean, quiet, great experience with maintenance, and central location. Shuttle pickup is conevenient. Parking garage is a little cramped and the floor is very uneven. Gym is really sad; no free weights, a couple machines, and the treadmill didn't work the last time I checked.

Westwood is great. Can take the Bruin Bus to get to campus easily so no need to pay for parking on campus. Westwood village is an easy walk with many great shops and restaurants. Westwood park is around the corner which offers all kinds of outdoor activities. Really enjoy living in this quiet, safe neighborhood.
Great college area, a little depressed because of COVID, but has a lot of potential and feels very accessible. Close to other nice areas like Brentwood or Santa Monica
Expensive, quiet depending on how close you are to undergraduate apartment buildings and the medical center.
The walk to Westwood is kind of long, I usually drive.
Westwood is a great area for graduate and professional students who are not from LA. It is walkable (grocery, pharmacy, restaurants, etc.), which is nice. Campus is close by, and a bus service runs from Weyburn directly to campus.

There is a large amount of homeless activity in the area.

It is a very young neighborhood. A lot of undergrads in the streets.
I'm not a city person, so it feels like there's nothing to do. I don't like bars or clubs, and I can't afford to eat out. Movies are pretty expensive, too. I would love more green space to sit and get away from the noisy 405. But there is a grocery store nearby, and there are a fair number of restaurants and movie theaters. There should be plenty to do for city people. Westwood feels like your typical college town, and it's full of students.
Lots of dining and grocery options at all price points. Very happy to have Ralph's and Target within walking distance (along with upscale groceries if that's your thing). 30 min to LAX or Santa Monica by car (if traffic is cooperative). Easy access to the 405. Lots of Uber cars around to take you where you need to go. Some quiet neighborhoods around campus that are good for running.

Some homeless people but overall feels quite safe. Only problem is that (surprise) it's definitely not cheap to live here.
Westwood is full of UCLA students. Everyone is friendly and there is a shopping center within walking distance of the apartment. Our apartment building is also filled with a lot of nurses or retired couples which is nice. We also have many foreign exchange students living here.
