Great location

This building on located on seven bus lines and about 15 min away from a red and green line stop. It’s a 40 min walk to campus or about 25 min via public transit. There is a nice rooftop and a great park right across the street (Meridian hill)

I like my building

I like my apartment building. It’s a big complex but all of the staff are extremely friendly and kind. The rooftop is awesome and the gym space is big and not usually crowded. Having package pickup is very nice. It is a very old building so there can be some problems, but typically things are taken care of in one day. The location is unbeatable with the exception of not being near a metro stop.

Decent for Price

The management staff is very helpful and there is staff at the front desk 24/7. The hallways can smell a little weird and I have heard mice in the ceiling, but have not had any problems within the apartment itself. Overall it's a decent price for the amount of square footage in the apartment. There's no dishwasher though and laundry is in the basement.

Nice building, poor management

I get great value for money here. A top-floor, 950 sqft apartment with views of the monuments for under $2200 is nothing short of miraculous. Central air, hardwood flooring, thick walls, all make things very comfortable. However, the property management company, Borger, seems determined to wring as much out of the building as possible, whether that be by removing historical art deco murals, doing unnecessary "improvements" to apartments to justify getting around rent controls, to refusing to address dangerous tenants (one has set fire to the building on multiple occasions).

Dorchester Apartments - A great deal

I really enjoy Dorchester Apartments in Arlington. My roommates and I were looking for a clean value in a nice area, and we found it with Dorchester. I am especially happy with the location and the included utilities. Further, I am happy that there is a gym on the premises and that the apartment was well cleaned at the beginning of our lease.

Great price for the location

We just moved in to a newly renovated apartment in this building. It's a beautiful space, and a great value for the location. Management's response time can be a little slow, but all in all we are pleased! Great roofdeck, pretty nice gym, and a really friendly front-desk staff!

Good deal for what you pay

That being said, Dorchester West is a rip off. Management is pretty bad, but service crews are so so great - they are responsive and friendly. The management always skimp on cosmetic work on common area and thus make them look so cheap and sloppy. I mean, do these people know about paint tape so they can make clean painting line?? Also, there are definitely mice in the building. In the laundry room 5 inch roach crawled over my feet too. Other than that, room is spacious and location is great.

Dorchester

Maintenance staff, front desk, and doorman are EXCELLENT. The location is amazing and living at the Dorchester House gives you good bang for your buck. The only gripe I have is with management. On multiple occasions and with multiple tenants, they have been rude, unresponsive, extremely hard to get in touch with, and unprofessional. Issues that they did not attend to were once brought to the attention of Borger Management, and it turns out that they are equally terrible at their jobs and lack customer service skills entirely. Fortunately, I don't have to deal with the leasing department all that often, but when I do, it is almost never a pleasant or helpful experience.

All in all, I do enjoy living at the Dorchester House and would recommend it to a friend, just with the understanding that you will need to contact the leasing department multiple times before getting a response and their customer service skills are severely lacking.

Dorchester

It was a great location, and not super expensive (for 2 people in a one bedroom), but the gym is out dated and there are few amenities. The management makes up for it though by hosting happy hours and having movies on the roof and such. Good atmosphere, old building.

Great building

I've lived in the Dorchester for a few years now and truly love this building. The location is fabulous, just across from the park and walking distance to Columbia Heights, U-Street and Woodley Park metros. I also take the S2 bus to work, which stops right in front of the building. The maintenance is also great - I've had some repairs and they have been fixed immediately. I will be sad to move out of this building at the end of the month. My husband and I just purchased a home in Silver Spring.

It’s just between DuPont and admo so you get all the fun of DuPont but the neighborhood feel of admo. Definitely feels like a safe neighborhood and admo is really cool (and cheaper overall than DuPont).
Do you like bohemian districts? If yes, than you'll love AdMo. This place has everything: Drifters, stoners, angry ideologues preaching divine ruination, some guinely excellent cocktail bars and restaurants. Are illciti pandemic speakeasies or constant ambient marijuana smoke not your cup of tea? Then go live in Petworth, nerd.
Adams Morgan is a popular nightlife spot with a neighborhood feel. 18th St is crazy on weekends, but just a few steps away are quiet residential areas. It offers a wonderful location for those who like to explore their surroundings (including restaurants and bars offering fare from around the world, and the 1st class Meridian Hill Park), while offering a quick escape from the bustle of city life. This is not downtown, nor is it a suburb. The demographics are nicely varied, unlike some ritzier areas nearby. A very interesting and comfortable place to live.
Admo has a reputation for the weekend evening activities that occur but Adams Morgan is also a great neighborhood gem to spend time in. With so many food options and parks within walking distance, it's perfect for more than just going out on a Saturday night. You have the perfect balance of night life with being in a walkable neighborhood which is also close to several other happening neighborhoods.
Good bar and restaurant scene, even if it is a zoo on Friday and Saturday nights. Easy access to Rock Creek Park
Adams Morgan is incredible for bars and restaurants. There is always something happening in the neighborhood. On the weekends it overflows with people coming in for a fun night.
Fantastic restuarants, bars and decent amounts of open/green space. Mostly friendly neighbors and a relatively short walk to the Woodley park metro stop or Columbia Heights. High concentration of houseless persons on some streets can be disruptive.
Adams Morgan is fantastic. Its close to everything and has a ton of great things so you don't really have to leave.
