Minor inconveniences.

During the day, a lot of issues can arise. No water, gas, or elevators down, but the issues are generally fixed before 5:00. Property manager hires black people and rent apartments to black people, but her attitude towards black people gives off undercover racist. Overall, the apartment works for its purpose: peaceful place to sleep that is close to school.

Love My Living Experience!!!

I attend grad school in DC, but I wanted to stay in Baltimore. My friends, family, church and fiance all live here so it was important to me to make Baltimore my hub even if it meant a longer commute. Horizon House could not be a more perfect location or building for that purpose. I currently live alone and the studio apartment is more than spacious enough with a huge walk-in/dressing closet, the view (North facing) is amazing, literally an entire wall in my apartment is picture windows, even from the middle floors (of a 20 floor building). My only complaint would be that the kitchen is pretty small and there's no dishwasher in the studios (which hasn't been the worst thing, it just means I wash dishes more often.) The staff are great, they actually know the residents and it feels like a community, not just a place where anonymous strangers all happen to live.

As far as the neighborhood, I don't think there's anything Mt. Vernon doesn't have that I would want; cafes and coffee shops and a bunch of great restaurants are all just a few blocks away (Almacks, Marie Louise, Dooby's and of course Starbucks are a couple favorites for coffee). And because I'm a commuter I cannot say too much about the nearness of Penn Station which is a 7 minute walk, and the major highways. I'm getting married this year, (YAY!!!), but I'm also relocating out of the city and leaving HH is probably the only sore spot. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here can't recommend it highly enough.

Great bargain!

A safe, well-managed building in the heart of Mt. Vernon. The staff are friendly and attentive and treat you like family. Very close to many great restaurants and bars. Parking and storage is available for an extra fee. Plus, there is a free pool with a fantastic view of Baltimore!

Love at First Rent

This apartment building and Staff turned me from a rural/suburb girl to a city-lover!
The staff is friendly, but more importantly attentive. They are respectful of all residents and know when to be cool and when to be aggressive.
They also respond immediately to all service requests and do their best to make sure all the residents are safe and happy.

Horizon House

Ive been there for three months. So far, its been going perfectly. Management is available at all time, and there is always someone to help in case you have an issue. Laundry on every floor, rooftop pool, convenience store. My studio is very spacious and it has AN AMAZING view of the city. Gym is a little small and not very comprehensive but it's manageable for a gym freak like me lol. Anyway I TOTALLY recommend this place.

Horizon House

This apartment building is in a great, central location. Near plenty of bars and restaurants so it is perfect for social individuals. The apartments on the higher floors are better because of the view and less noise pollution. Calvert St can get quite busy in the afternoon and parking is not great.

Great management, 1960s building

The management at this building is awesome. The apartments are very comfortable and quiet - the walls are thick, and people largely keep to themselves. The gym is nice - 20th floor with floor-to-ceiling windows. The pool and back deck are great amenities in the summer. I enjoy living here.

Mid-Town Belvedere Reviews

There isn’t too much near by in comparison to other locations in Baltimore, but it is in the middle of the city so it is easy to get places. There isn’t a grocery store nearby, which is probably the biggest con.
UMd Police presence is fairly high, so the area feels reasonably safe. Fairly well lit, and fairly heavily traveled given its location with UB and UMd.
Have only been offered crack once in two years.
It’s a really nice area and is walking distance to a lot of different things. But once you go outside the area it can get a little sketchy
Good bar/restaurant scene, right next to the train/bus station. Some crime but can't help that.
Love how historic it is
Midtown/ Mt Vernon is a very active neighborhood in Baltimore. Artscape is held annually here, and there is regularly activities going on. It very common to see people out and about at all hours. Its situated around several colleges and universities. The real con to the neighborhood, is the lack of viable options for grocery shopping. You must travel to another neighborhood to shop which means more often than not you need to utilize a car. Zipcar is available in many locations.
Mt Vernon is a safe neighborhood with some of the best bars/restaurants of Baltimore (including Brewers Art, The Owl Bar, etc.). It really "feels" like a neighborhood. Main problem: no decent grocery stores on walking distance. Eddies is a disgrace of low quality produce and whole foods-like prices, so you really need a car to do grocery shopping.
This is a fairly safe and clean neighborhood. I checked the Sun's murder and rat complaint maps, and this area has little of either. Eddies of Mount Vernon is an OK grocery store, but I wouldn't go there for everything.
