2116 Chestnut

Apartments rent quickly and the management team is not great, but the building is a great location, it's very social, apartments get great light, and the studio floor plans are larger than most other doorman buildings in the area.

2116

I feel like we are overpaying compared to our peers but I am extremely happy with our living decision as we have met so many amazing students who also live in the building. I also appreciate the facilities that the building offers. The front desk is not very particular with who they let upstairs (they do not check that people have keys). If you want space, this is not the place to live as you do not get a lot of bang for your buck in terms of square footage.

Ideal for Wharton MBAs

2116 is a nearly turnkey, centrally-located apartment option for any Wharton MBA.

Great Wharton community

This is the epicenter of Wharton. If you hate FOMO (which you will), live here.

Actual building is ok, management a bit dishonest, but apartment is nice and again, FOMO sucks.

Best apartments, but not very good management

2116 has by far the best apartments in Center City. After seeing friend's apartments in other buildings in the area, I can say that 2116 has by far the best apartments: big, great natural light, great staff (security, cleaning, and maintenance), and modern. However, management is not very good. There's always issues that come up and some (1 or 2, definitely not everyone) people in the office are not very nice. You might have an unpleasant surprise when it's time to move out or to renew your lease.

Nice building, terrible management

Once major benefit is that it is a popular building among Wharton students. A lot of people are in the building which is convenient. The units themselves are very nice and the location is great, but the management office is not great. Elevators break often and take forever to fix, there are always odd issues such as power shutdowns for an entire day and the people in the leasing office never have good responses. The maintenance team is great however.

Really nice place

Nice amenities, good maintenance, very new.

Good location.

Convenient because lots of Wharton students live here.

Outdoor patio with grills is awesome when the weather is nice.

The floor to ceiling windows offer nice views but it gets VERY bright in the morning.

Studio is fine for a couple but the closet space is definitely a bit tight.

Beautiful apartments and a great way to meet other students

My experience in 2116 has been great. I have a studio apartment that is surprisingly spacious (especially the kitchen) and has nice views with the floor to ceiling windows.

The gym is nice, clean, and provides the basic cardio equipment (treadmills, bikes, elliptical, etc) and enough strength equipment to get by.

The common space on the 5th floor is a popular gathering place for Wharton students and is both spacious and stylish.

My favorite part is that by being in such a popular building, you get to meet other students that you may not have stumbled upon otherwise.

The only drawback is the cost, but if you can afford it then I'd highly recommend the building.

The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
This neighborhood, which borders Rittenhouse, is full of wonderful places to eat and drink, and is very close to the Schuylkill river trail, which is great for walking, biking, and running. There are plenty of buses that serve this area, and the demographic is young and social.
Quiet, charming part of town next to the river and close to both U Penn and Rittenhouse square. Safe, beautiful and great for dog walking/watching. Not a lot of stores or coffee shops around but close enough to Trader Joes and Rittenhouse Square.
Great neighborhood! Very quiet and full of families. I've never felt unsafe walking home late at night. Close walk to Fitler and Schuylkill River Park. A few little restaurants and shops nearby.
Great area - Shake Shack, Village Whiskey, Melograno, Rione, and Tinto all about one block away. Also very close to Tria, Irish Pub, Vernick, Res Ipsa, and Rittenhouse Square.
Headquarters of the Wharton community in Philadelphia. Feels very safe walking around and has good restaurants, though the best are a bit East.
Its a good location but there isn't a ton going on right by the apartment. Everything is within a 10 minute walk though.
Very safe, tons of restaurants and things to do. Very close to the river trail and parks, so great running.
