2116 Chestnut

Apartments rent quickly and the management team is not great, but the building is a great location, it's very social, apartments get great light, and the studio floor plans are larger than most other doorman buildings in the area.

2116

I feel like we are overpaying compared to our peers but I am extremely happy with our living decision as we have met so many amazing students who also live in the building. I also appreciate the facilities that the building offers. The front desk is not very particular with who they let upstairs (they do not check that people have keys). If you want space, this is not the place to live as you do not get a lot of bang for your buck in terms of square footage.

Ideal for Wharton MBAs

2116 is a nearly turnkey, centrally-located apartment option for any Wharton MBA.

Great Wharton community

This is the epicenter of Wharton. If you hate FOMO (which you will), live here.

Actual building is ok, management a bit dishonest, but apartment is nice and again, FOMO sucks.

Best apartments, but not very good management

2116 has by far the best apartments in Center City. After seeing friend's apartments in other buildings in the area, I can say that 2116 has by far the best apartments: big, great natural light, great staff (security, cleaning, and maintenance), and modern. However, management is not very good. There's always issues that come up and some (1 or 2, definitely not everyone) people in the office are not very nice. You might have an unpleasant surprise when it's time to move out or to renew your lease.

Nice building, terrible management

Once major benefit is that it is a popular building among Wharton students. A lot of people are in the building which is convenient. The units themselves are very nice and the location is great, but the management office is not great. Elevators break often and take forever to fix, there are always odd issues such as power shutdowns for an entire day and the people in the leasing office never have good responses. The maintenance team is great however.

Really nice place

Nice amenities, good maintenance, very new.

Good location.

Convenient because lots of Wharton students live here.

Outdoor patio with grills is awesome when the weather is nice.

The floor to ceiling windows offer nice views but it gets VERY bright in the morning.

Studio is fine for a couple but the closet space is definitely a bit tight.

Beautiful apartments and a great way to meet other students

My experience in 2116 has been great. I have a studio apartment that is surprisingly spacious (especially the kitchen) and has nice views with the floor to ceiling windows.

The gym is nice, clean, and provides the basic cardio equipment (treadmills, bikes, elliptical, etc) and enough strength equipment to get by.

The common space on the 5th floor is a popular gathering place for Wharton students and is both spacious and stylish.

My favorite part is that by being in such a popular building, you get to meet other students that you may not have stumbled upon otherwise.

The only drawback is the cost, but if you can afford it then I'd highly recommend the building.

The neighborhood is perfect for my needs. I am 1 block from the Schulykill park (and the running/biking trail) (and dog park, basketball courts, tennis courts). I'm also half a block from Fitler Square. I am about 7 minutes via bike from CHOP and on closer to my clinic site than the hospital. I'm north of South Street so closer to the action and very close to the gym. Also Delancey is a very good looking street.
Wharton bubble. I love it. Decent restaurants-- not as many fast+healthy+good-value meal options nearby as I'd like but many nice places. Nightlife is what Wharton makes it. Easy walk to some cool stuff in town.

Chestnut street has more of a homeless problem than I'd like but that will be hard to avoid in general, has not been a problem for me personally.
Couldn't be better. Walk to my favorite restaurants and bars in less than 5minutes. Walk to my gyms/work out studios in as little as 4 min. 1.5 blocks away from bus stop and Septa trolley. Trader Joes down the block as is Rite Aid, CVS, multiple take-out restaurants. Can walk to work in 20 mins. Many residents live nearby-social hub.
I was looking for a more authentic Philly experience outside of the heavily commercialized Rittenhouse Square area. Fitler Square is one of the most charming and beautiful neighborhoods in Philly. Amazing location next to a Starbucks, grocery store, bars, and many other amenities. So happy to be here. Love this neighborhood
Our neighbors have been quiet, lots of people with pets and young families. The neighborhood is pretty calm, cars are fairly rare and it’s very walkable. There’s a grocery store about 3 blocks away, which is great, and there are a lot of trees, which is always nice.
It is terribly unexceptional, which may be a good thing - no crowds, gawping tourists, amateur sports teams on a night out, etc. There are a few restaurants and bars nearby and you are generally in walking distance of everything you might need
Fitler square is primarily behind Riverloft (which faces Walnut). You're really in Center City. The Fitler square neighborhood is amazing for walks with dog, running, hanging out in the park, small cuter-type restaurants, etc. Probably more attractive to couples, families, and lower-key students. A little bit of a walk (10 minutes) for bar scene, with exception to Pub and Bonners.
I think Fitler Square has it all. It has its own good bars and restaurants and is only a couple blocks to the full host of things at Rittenhouse. Easy walk to campus or convenient Route 40 bus. Multiple parks including the one at Taney and Lombard which is one of the biggest parks in the city and part of the Schuylkill River Trail. Decent grocery store right at 23rd and south, but still a reasonable walk to Trader Joes at 22nd and Market too.
