Great low cost option

Quiet, paid utilities, easy shuttle access to campus, prompt maintenance, subsidized rental rate, great community, AC!!! Small rooms, minor security issues with stolen packages. Honestly, it doesn't get better than this, especially at this price point, in Westwood.

Costs

While a nice place to live, El Paseo is too expensive for me to live based on my stipend and paycheck from the department—100 percent of my income went toward paying rent which left no money for food or other cost of living expenses

Paseo

The apartments are easy walking distance to everything you need, and there are bus stops right in front of the buildings that make getting to and from campus very easy.

Weyburn Terrace Paseo

Low sunlight due economy studio. Very close to campus and convenient. Safe and secure area. Most affordable option while still remaining in Westwood area.

My experience at Weyburn Terrace

Even though it is costly, in my opinion, Weyburn Terrace is the best housing option in Westwood. First, the studios are fully furnished. Second, the rent includes amenities. Third, the building and studios are elegant and beautiful. Fourth, the facilities are also lovely and in good condition.

Paseo is Great

I have had a great experience in Paseo for the last year and a half. I am heavily considering staying here throughout the rest of law school. It is very cheap for the Westwood location, I love my apartment layout (many Paseo layouts are different), and it is great to have a community of students nearby. It is the main way I made friends during remote 1L. Overall, I would highly recommend Paseo. Living in a studio as a couple is doable as well.

Decent for the price

Building is well maintained and nice, but the parking situation is frustrating. There isn't enough parking spaces for everyone who needs one, and parking is very expensive (not included in rent). Also the university housing system isn't ideal. There are many of my classmates who would've loved the studio I got but weren't able to get housing. I fortunately did get a housing offer, but in an apartment far from what I needed.

Great location and utilities included

Location is a plus, as it is close to campus and many restaurants. My unit has plenty of sunlight. Appliances are small, such as the fridge and oven. I have had not major maintenance issues.

Westwood Reviews

Westwood is great. Can take the Bruin Bus to get to campus easily so no need to pay for parking on campus. Westwood village is an easy walk with many great shops and restaurants. Westwood park is around the corner which offers all kinds of outdoor activities. Really enjoy living in this quiet, safe neighborhood.
Great college area, a little depressed because of COVID, but has a lot of potential and feels very accessible. Close to other nice areas like Brentwood or Santa Monica
Expensive, quiet depending on how close you are to undergraduate apartment buildings and the medical center.
The walk to Westwood is kind of long, I usually drive.
Westwood is a great area for graduate and professional students who are not from LA. It is walkable (grocery, pharmacy, restaurants, etc.), which is nice. Campus is close by, and a bus service runs from Weyburn directly to campus.

There is a large amount of homeless activity in the area.

It is a very young neighborhood. A lot of undergrads in the streets.
I'm not a city person, so it feels like there's nothing to do. I don't like bars or clubs, and I can't afford to eat out. Movies are pretty expensive, too. I would love more green space to sit and get away from the noisy 405. But there is a grocery store nearby, and there are a fair number of restaurants and movie theaters. There should be plenty to do for city people. Westwood feels like your typical college town, and it's full of students.
Lots of dining and grocery options at all price points. Very happy to have Ralph's and Target within walking distance (along with upscale groceries if that's your thing). 30 min to LAX or Santa Monica by car (if traffic is cooperative). Easy access to the 405. Lots of Uber cars around to take you where you need to go. Some quiet neighborhoods around campus that are good for running.

Some homeless people but overall feels quite safe. Only problem is that (surprise) it's definitely not cheap to live here.
Westwood is full of UCLA students. Everyone is friendly and there is a shopping center within walking distance of the apartment. Our apartment building is also filled with a lot of nurses or retired couples which is nice. We also have many foreign exchange students living here.
