Liberty Warehouse Review

Liberty is a great place to live. The gym is great, there's a pool, and the central downtown location is hard to beat. The complex is right above the Durham Food Hall and across the street from the farmer's market. Anywhere in downtown is an easy walk. The management is extremely responsive to requests and questions. Importantly, the building allows for subletting, which is important for summer jobs.

Great location and amenities

I chose Liberty Warehouse for the amazing location (right above the Farmer's Market on Saturdays, Durham Food Hall, Durham Central Park, many bars/coffee shops/restaurants/etc.) The amenities are also great (gym/pool/outdoor decks) and the units are lovely and light-filled.

The main cons I have noticed are that it can get noisy on certain weekend nights because of the location, and the package pick-up system is a bit disorganized.

Convenient and high quality

Love the convenience of living above the Durham food hall while still being 10 minutes from Fuqua and 10 minutes from 9th street. I often walk to events that are hosted at Boxcar, accordion, glass jug, etc. The building is also extremely nice. There’s a nice gym, pool and common area. My apartment is good sized with a balcony.

Great location and staff

Liberty is right next to Durham Central park. There are always events in the park that make weekends so fun to stay and explore Durham. The park affords ample space for pets to go for walks and play. The staff is amazing and super responsive. It's a little bit on the pricier side, but the location and experience just can't be beat.

Apartment Review

I've enjoyed my stay. The location is great, sometimes too good (in terms of concerts being close by)

Great in a Non-Covid world

It's in downtown Durham, so it's unfortunately pretty far from campus (30 minutes). It's an awesome location with a lot to do around in a non-covid world, but in quarantine it's expensive. It's mostly young/working professionals in the building, some students. Lots of construction going on around so loud during the day but that's out of the apartments control.

Getting around Downtown Durham

Downtown Durham Reviews

I have always felt safe in the area and love that so many restaurants are walkable. Prior to COVID-19, it was also a huge benefit to walk to DPAC for off-broadway shows or to the Durham Bulls stadium for a game.
Downtown is the best place to live in Durham! I love walking to bars, restaurants, shops, and the Farmer's Market. It is super easy to drive to campus as well.
Great experience. Some of the best bars ans restaurants are in Downtown, as well as the DPAC, Bulls stadium and other things to do. It's close to the American Tobacco Campus and Trail. One of the "busiest" places in Durham.
Very fun area, nice to have a lot of bars/restaurants in walking distance. Drive to school is quick and easy.
Van Alen is in a great spot in Durham. Several large new apartment complexes are being built around it. It is also right next to the Durham Courthouse which has a 24/7 police presence and patrol cars are constantly pulling in and out of the courthouse garage at all hours.

With that being said, Van Alen is still in Durham.
It takes on average less than 10 minutes for me to go from Van Alen to the science drive parking garage at Duke.
It's been cool but not too much to do because of covid. Weekends can get loud outside because of the close proximity to bars and restaurants. If everything was open it would be sweet.
Up and coming but a good choice of restaurants about about 0.5miles away
We have enjoyed living downtown well enough, but we have not been able to take advantage of much of it due to COVID.
