Best Location

You can't beat this location for the price. Less than 1 mile from downtown so you can walk to 6th Street, ride your bike to Rainey St., walk to work if you work downtown. Great amenities and management. (Though the female leasing agents can be kind of ditzy or fake). Also, they never pick up the phone in the office for some reason (unless David is working - he's the best!)

The only bad thing about the price is the valet trash fee of $25 a month. It's a rip off service, but I guess it keeps residents from putting their garbage in the hallways (which they are sort of doing anyway by nature of service...) so yeah, the halls can sometimes smell like garbage.

Parking garage is good and feels safe. Never had any issues. They do try to schedule social events sponsored by local companies, so that's cool. There are a ton of younger working professionals here too so it's easy to meet people by the pool.

Amenities are nice - they have a pool, "clubhouse", conference room, gym (equipment could be better though or maintained better - how about an elliptical with grips/arms?), and a free coffee machine in the clubhouse. The lay out of this place is kind of a nightmare though, it's like a maze and friends have a hard time getting in when they come over. So that kind of stinks.

Management is great. The guy who is the main manager is awesome. Very understanding and easy to work with. The property is also pet friendly, including big dog friendly. They seem strict about the breeds, but I think they are really only strict about pit bulls (so if you have a dog you want to get that's on the "aggressive breed" list, talk with the manager guy).

The apartments are newer too or at least updated, which is nice. No real maintenance issues either, but if you have one, they come right away and fix it. Safety is kind of a thing here though, and there's some shady people sometimes outside but that's the nature of an urban area. The worst is during ACL and SXSW though, but other than that, it's okay. Would definitely live here again!

Central East Austin Reviews

9 reviews
Central East Austin is a cheaper place to stay than downtown Austin or west side but it is close to everything as for instance to east 6th street for night life and to UT campus for work and study. It is a quiet neighborhood except during traffic. Several mini grocery shops exist and by a 5 min drive you can get to a supermarket.
Pros: 10 mins to campus/downtown, bars/restaurants nearby, 15 mins to airport

Cons: safety can be sketchy, gentrification
Great bar scene and close to downtown. Can become sketchy quickly when you get off the main 6th street drag or close to I-35, but I expect this will get better as the area develops.
Pet friendly, easily accessible to school by driving or biking. Too far to walk (maybe 30 minutes), but a quick bike ride or drive.
Excellent location, close to everything!
Central east Austin is a good neighborhood since it is close to UT campus and to Downtown Austin so one can easily get to work in the morning and enjoy nightlife at night. Grocery stores are easy access with the location close to i35.
Usually calm except when there is traffic.
Lots of food trucks, cool bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Only downside is having to take 2 buses to campus.
East Austin is the best area of Austin. I am walking distance to bars, restaurants, coffee shops. There is a new target/Whole Foods complex a couple blocks away. It is easy to navigate and park compared to other areas of town.
