Brentwood Square

As a medical student who must commute to the U-M medical campus regularly, I appreciate being able to get to campus in a timely manner. In my first year of med school, when I had an orange U-M parking permit, I would park in lot NC51 on North Campus and take the Med Express bus in to campus. It would generally take no more than 25 minutes from the time I left home to the time I reached the medical campus. When I was able to get a blue permit in my 2nd year of med school, it would usually take no more than 15 minutes to drive to campus in the early morning.

Although I live farther from campus than many of my classmates, I think that the in-unit washer/dryer, private garage, and closeness to businesses on Washtenaw (e.g. Whole Foods, Kroger, Walgreens) at the monthly rent that I am paying make it a very good option for me.

One issue that I have encountered is problems with water leaking from the unit above me. Although this has not led to significant property damage and management has responded by making necessary repairs, it is a recurrent problem that took place even before I moved into the unit and has persisted since I have been here.

One of the bedrooms sustained water damage to the ceiling, which needed to be dried out and patched. The unit also shows signs of previous water damage on the ceiling and walls.

On the positive, the condos are only a 10 minute drive to lot NC-51, where you can take the MexExpress to the med school. I also like my in-unit washer/dryer and private garage connected to the unit.

Excellent location, close to many commercial options as well as campus (7-10 min drive). Public transit is not the most convenient here though. Quiet, comfortable, and with many medical professionals living here (but not really many students).
