Outrageous charges
Overlook ALWAYS charges you outrageous fees! They should treat students nicer. My friends were asked to pay 60ish dollars just because placing the trash bag wrongly only once. I didn't live there, but I was charged $350. Why? I quoted for a floor plan, and they directly sent me the lease. But I finally decided not to live there, and they charged me $350 dollars and the bill was sent to the collection company. After consulting with the Law Clinic at our school, they say Overlook has violated the law! Even overlook is managed by the university, and their renters are all notre dame students. Don't you think they should treat us nicer????

Amazing Space and Outstanding Location
This apartment is all I could ever ask for. It's spacious with plenty of storage, the washer and dryer are so easy to access, and the furnishing saved me a ton of money moving in. Its proximity to campus makes the commute to class easy and convenient (along with a stunning view of ND). The apartment was quite dirty upon move in and some things have needed repairing due to age/rust, but maintenance has done a great job since seeing to my concerns. Overall a fantastic experience!

Management is horrific but location is great
The management at Overlook is horrific and does not generally provide the level of service that you might expect for the cost. Overlook is a good place to live when there are no problems in the apartment; however, if there is every a maintenance issue dealing with management and maintenance is a nightmare. The location is good and the apartment is reasonably nice.

Not having to deal with management makes it worth it to live elsewhere
The apartment itself is fine (though very cheaply made and things break easily, and there are thin walls). The management is terrible. You need EVERYTHING in writing. If something breaks, take pictures, document phone calls with management in emails, etc. They try to do the bare minimum. They also never answer the phone and are slow to respond to emails. Once, I had a dispute with them and they truly avoided my calls and emails for around 5 months. It was extremely frustrating. They also up charge on utilities If you don't have any problems with your apartment or bills and don't need to communicate with management you will have a fine time living there. If not, you will see how incompetent they are.

Experience
It is one of the nicest places to live as a law student (except Foundry - but not sure if it is worth the extra expense). It is super close to campus and so many law students live here. it is graduate student only (no need to worry about undergrad parties) and less than a 15 minute walk through campus to the law school - but we’re just a two second walk from the beginning of campus. Highly
Recommend.
