Good but not great

The apts are all furnished and the spaces are pretty nice. But it’s a very college centric complex; a lot of undergrad students live here so if you’re no longer looking for college experience I wouldn’t consider it. I live in a one bed and it’s frankly so damn convenient I refuse to leave. But the rent is high, the amenities poor (since I’ve been there they’ve stopped paying for cable and next year water too while increasing rent), and the maintenance and management has gotten better but still not fantastic. Cosmopolitan or Axis are much better options close to the school, but with higher rent, more utilities, and unfurnished. In comparison then, Lux isn’t so bad. It’s walking distance location to Kroger and to campus makes it a winner, even despite its flaws.

It’s Decent

The biggest downfall of my unit is that there are a lot of undergraduate students living there. If you end up in a unit on a higher floor or facing the pool, when undergraduate students party on the weekends, it can get noisy.

DO NOT LIVE HERE

DO NOT LIVE HERE. This apartment is horrible considering the cost. If it was half the cost, then I would say you are getting what you paid for. Please read the following list of everything wrong with this place.
1. They will try to milk you for money. The tried to get about $400 from me for "damages" when I moved out. The only proof of these "damages" were a bunch of blurry photos that showed NOTHING. The only thing wrong with the apartment was something that was there when I moved in, and I REPORTED IT AT MOVE IN. When I asked for better proof of damages, they again sent blurry photos. I refused to pay without actual proof, to which they immediately backed down saying "after reviewing the move-out inspection you are correct, and the damages were nothing more than normal wear and tear. I have removed the charges." They are definitely used to taking as much money from students and parents as possible with no push back.
2. The pool. The pool closed almost immediately after I moved in and did not open until the majority of students had gone home for the summer. They will sell the pool as an amazing luxury item during the tour, but you will barely get to use it.
3. Cold water. The water in my place was lukewarm at best. I filed a maintenance request, but they refused to fix it. Hot showers are a form of self-care for me, and I never got to have them while living here. It was so bad that I went to my friends' places to use their showers.
4. The noise. This apartment is extremely loud, the walls are thin, and quiet hours are ignored. While I understand it is student living and there will be some noise, my college dorm was quieter than this place.
5. Dirty and smelly. There was puke in the stairwell for over a week, there were spills covering the ground, everything was sticky, and it smelled horrible. I only ever saw one cleaning lady for this entire apartment. I feel absolutely horrible for her, and I hope they pay her well. They need to hire more staff to keep up with dirty college students.
6. The staff: While the people at the front desk were friendly, staff members in higher positions are extremely rude. I wish I knew their names, but unfortunately, I cannot remember. The man who completed my inspections flat out ignored me when entering my apartment and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and judged. I asked him how his day was and tried to be friendly, but he only rolled his eyes. The maintenance man with him, however, was extremely kind.
7. The gym. A huge selling point for me during the tour was the workout videos you can follow along to in the gym. This broke within 2 weeks of me moving in, and it was NEVER fixed. I would have likely gone with my second choice if this feature wasn't offered. I cannot believe a place that takes so much money from tenants cannot fix a simple video set-up.
8. Fire alarm. The fire alarm went off multiple times during my time here, and they could not get it to turn off. One time was due to a pipe bursting and the other I am unsure of. I had to leave my apartment for the ENTIRE DAY due to the sound, and I was supposed to be doing zoom meetings from my apartment for my internship. When I called and asked how long it would take, they had no answers for me and were extremely rude on the phone.
9. The WIFI. The Wi-Fi broke so often while I lived here, and when it was working, it was unbearably slow. It got to the point where I could not use my apple tv anymore because it would repeatedly stop to load.
10. Elevators. One elevator is broken almost at all times, and with so many floors, this causes extreme delays. I lived on the 11th floor, and I started taking the stairs due to the lines for the elevators. Once again, you would think such an expensive apartment would have working elevators.
Once again, this review is in no way meant for the majority of staff members. The kind cleaning lady I met there, most of the front desk workers, and most of the maintenance workers are great at their

Would not suggest

Very much an ‘undergrad’ experience. Location is great but very noisy and common areas not often clean. Will tow vehicles.
