Incorrect $5,150 Charge for Internal Transfer
If I could give zero stars, I would.
I’ve been a resident at Cortland Rosslyn and recently tried to transfer to another apartment within the same building—something that, according to Cortland’s own policy, should come with a $750 internal transfer fee.
Instead, they charged me a $5,150 early termination fee, as if I were breaking my lease entirely. I reached out early in the morning to get this corrected, and no one bothered to respond for hours. Because of this outrageous and incorrect charge, my bank account is now overdrawn and I can’t pay my credit card bill on time. If this charge goes through, I will be reporting it as fraudulent activity to my bank and potentially seeking legal counsel.
The complete lack of urgency and accountability is shocking for a property that claims to value its residents. I’ve also had to deal with ongoing maintenance issues over the past year (e.g., amenities like the golf simulator being broken for months), but this is by far the worst experience yet.
To anyone thinking of moving here: be very cautious. Mistakes like this should not happen—especially when they result in real financial harm to tenants. And when they do, they should be corrected immediately. Cortland, do better.

Cortland Rosslyn
The building is extremely close to campus (1 metro stop away), very new (delivered Aug. 2020) and has a ton of coworking and other top notch amenities. Couldn’t recommend this place more.

Upscale rental, lots of potential, could use some TLC
The apartment complex overall is wonderful. However, management is a bit oblivious to things that could be better or are not in working condition. For example, the bikes in the gym have needed repairs for several months with no follow through.
Otherwise, amenities are nice, location is great in relation to metro and shopping, and the apartment complex itself is quiet.
