Beautiful historic building in the heart of downtown

Though rent is a bit high, it's competitively priced for the area and the apartments are much more spacious than comparable buildings. If you rely on public transportation, this building is in an ideal location, just a couple blocks away from the Max and numerous major bus lines. The location is a quick walk from the waterfront and several parks, and near dozens of bars, restaurants, and clubs for those who enjoy the nightlife. Artist students will appreciate being located in Portland's Pearl Art District.

The building itself is a charming historic property that has been recently renovated. There aren't modern amenities like a gym or pool, but it has a gorgeous central rooftop courtyard and several small art galleries and shops on the first level. There is on-site laundry in the basement and many units have washer/dryer hookups. It's pet friendly, residents are welcoming, and the on-site manager is extremely responsive and actively involved in the community. The previous property management company was awful, but the owners have hired a new company to run the building that seems much better. One downside to the large units is that the high ceilings make it difficult to control temperature without running up a high power bill, so be aware of this when budgeting!
