We love old buildings
It's an affordable, beautiful apartment with real hardwood floors (hard to find!). What more could you want. Mt. Vernon is a great, walkable neighborhood with a sense of history. Many old buildings and such. Close to parks and the Enoch Pratt library (great for studying). It's within walking distance of the law school, to a bunch of restaurants and bars, to the train station (great for those who commute to DC in the summer). It's also very pretty to just walk around in.
The lack of central air, however, makes the apartment difficult to cool in the summer and exorbitantly expensive to heat in the winter. The only grocery store in walking distance is expensive, however.

No central heat/air. But real hardwood floors, nice old building, no pests (wow!).
