Mar Vista area: good value, nice neighborhood
Negative part first: it's an old building and we've had multiple plumbing emergencies that resulted in very disruptive maintenance fixes. The walls are pretty thin and not sealed very well, so silverfish and small bugs can navigate in and out of the walls. We lay traps and it's mostly pretty manageable. Management is decently responsive and amicable.
The unit is roughly 750 square feet. I've lived here with my SO for a few years. It's street-facing on a busy street, which is kind of frustrating sometimes. My SO has a car and I have a car, so we have to share 1 parking spot in an alternating fashion. However, the area is mostly very walkable and pleasant; on the quieter side. We think it's a good value for the price, especially relative to the area. Shared laundry and no AC.
