Towers at Longfellow

I've had a good experience at my apartment building thus far. Sometimes there are maintenance issues. There are four elevators in the building and most recently one of them was out of service for a long time which led to significant back ups and only two operating elevators at times. Also, there has been some talks of break ins or strangers in the building. However I have never personally felt unsafe here. The apartment has a good gym and a great pool (for extra purchase) during the summer months. There is a great variety of people and families here and it is very pet friendly. Most importantly to me, the apartment itself is spacious and has a lot of storage.

Good location with lots of storage!

Being in the West End close to the Charles River and the Bay, with the large windows in most apartments there are some really great views and all the apartments have updated balconies. Most of the apartments are quite spacious, even the studios have a generous amount of closet space. The apartments seem to be well built and fairly quiet. Management and maintenance have been very responsive. I do not have a pet, but the buildings are very pet friendly. There is a decent gym, a dog park, a good sized business center with quite a bit of workable space, and there is a pool but you must pay an additional fee for access. The buildings are very close to 5 different train lines which makes it a very walkable area. There are lots of restaurants and bars close by and two grocery stores within a couple of blocks. The only issue I have had is the rent increase at lease renewal. My rate increased 17% which is excessive, but it was cheaper to pay the increase than to pay movers, new deposits, brokers fees, etc. My rent is higher than most, because I wanted a certain size apartment but there are smaller, more affordable apartments in the buildings.

Longfellow Place is outdated

Building is very out of date. Need to update washer/dryers & heating units in unit. Very $$$ for such an old building. Everything is always being repaired or under construction. We have to pay to use our own pool? So crazy.

About West End

West End is one of the smaller neighborhoods of Boston, blending both the old with the new. Early in its history, West End was typically left behind in attracting residents. This is far from the case today. West End is now dominated by modern high rises and vibrant social hubs scattered throughout ...

West End Reviews

5 reviews
The Longfellow Towers are very close to 5 different train lines which makes it a very walkable area. There are lots of restaurants and bars close by, TD Garden one block over and two grocery stores within a couple of blocks. The Thoreau Path (walking trail) is directly out the back door of the buildings and leads to the Esplanade by the Charles River. From this location, anywhere in downtown Boston is within a 1 mile walk, and most less than that.
very safe and access to everything
Expensive but good part of town. Needs a better grocery store nearby, otherwise no complaints! Great place to live. Roommates exceptional.
Close to public transit, close to work, close to the hospital, in a very active and social part of Boston.
The neighborhood is right next to the Charles River and Beacon Hill, two wonderful areas in Boston. The only grocery stores nearby are fairly expensive however.
