You get what you pay for

This apartment complex is easily the closest to to Emory’s campus. This has significant pros and cons. For starters, you don’t have to pay to park. It is an easy bike or walk to campus. on the other hand, this apartment complex is filled with undergraduate students that have just discovered alcohol. I never would have noticed if my windows were thick enough to block out the sounds of the outside world. The apartments are old and worn. The management is making significant renovations to both the apartment and the amenities which include a small but functional gym (two pelotons and lots of weight equipment) and a decent sized pool. If you want to relive the college life, rent here.

Pretty good but could be better

Management could be better at responding to maintenance issues, but overall a safe and relatively quiet area.

Resident Review

The apartment is really spacious and has updated appliances. My biggest complaint is the management company's reaction to neighborhood disturbances, including a naked man on people's porches and the leasing office did nothing more than contact the police once. Luckily, I haven't been the one to experience this issue, but the response I received from the leasing office was unsettling. The other main issue I have is the leasing office doesn't notify residents when a package has been delivered to the leasing office, so you must monitor delivery updates to know whether to retrieve a package from the office. This is mainly frustrating when someone else has mailed you a package, and you don't have the tracking information and are unable to easily track its delivery date.

It's pretty good

Staff is very friendly. Parking is easy. Some units are updated, some aren't. Cheaper rate for non updated. Can walk to Goizueta in 25 minutes

Quiet community close to school

I have been really happy with the last 6 months at Highland Square. The apartment is spacious, high ceilings, standard appliances, and clean. The gym is basic, but does the trick so I don't have to spend money on a gym membership and it's super convenient. Best part is the distance to school - it's about 1.5 miles, easily walkable or bikeable which saves another $500 dollars on a parking pass every year. Overall, super happy with it. Management has been very quick to react if we need anything at all. Pool is nice, but I don't use it often. Walls are decently thick.

I don't have a pet, but there are little dog parks as well.

The perfect place for a grad student

After a bad experience during my first year, I moved into Highland Square apartments and couldn't be happier. The place was just upgraded and spotless upon move in, and the management / maintenance crew here is the best I've ever had. Perfect for my time at GBS!

A bit noisy but nice

Recommend not getting a bottom floor unit. You can hear upstairs neighbor stomping around, AC units are outside bedroom window, and maintenance staff mow grass early in the morning. But the staff is friendly and the apartments are very spacious for the rent. Good location, very close to Emory, and a cheap Uber ride to bars. Feels safe, but there are a lot of students that live here that can get pretty rowdy on the weekends.

Getting around Druid Hills

Druid Hills Reviews

Druid Hills is the home neighborhood of Emory, the CDC, and lots of other areas. It is also close to Midtown, downtown Decatur, Inman Park, etc. so a good time is never far away. Lots of restaurants and grocery stores. The university provides lots of activities. Plenty of parks and walking trails if you know where to look.
Druid hills is historic and full of parks and sidewalks. Super safe and exercise and pet friendly. Best part about where I live is the location
love the neighborhood. amazing parks, families, houses, lovely place to be and walk
Beautiful hilly neighborhood with lots of forested parks and quiet streets for runs and walks. You are a 10-15 min walk to the restaurants at Morningside and to Emory village in the opposite direction. It's not close to the beltline, Piedmont, or many of the restaurants/bars you'll find closer to Midtown, but it's quiet and good for students at Emory.
The Druid hills neighborhood is residential and you'll need a car or rideshare to get to most retail areas. It can be quite if you have good neighbors and is typically a safe neighborhood. Gables Rock Springs has experienced some break-ins over the past 6 months while I've been living there, but I don't know the circumstances and haven't experienced it myself.
Lots of great restaurants, driving is decent around here (for Atlanta anyway). I have 2 Publixes, a Target, and a Walmart within 10 minutes of me. I would highly recommend.
Emory Point is basically on campus so the atmosphere is very similar to other areas of Emory, with more shops and restaurants thrown in.
There are a lot of families who live in this complex. Numerous pet owners too, and a wonderfull green area for everyone to play and have fun in. We are right across the street from the Clairmont Campus.
