Very Easy Living

We have enjoyed living at the Riverloft. The apartments are spacious and airy. Pet friendly. The 24 hour Rite Aid across the street is key. We rent a parking space so its easy to quickly get out of the city. The front desk and security people are very nice and I can say that we have great relationships with everyone. The only downside for us is that not a lot of families with small children live here.

Spacious rooms, great service, good location.

I have a one bedroom apartment, with an open plan kitchen. Our apartment is one of the few that doesn't have a mezzanine bedroom, but rather has a separate room (with a door). The entire apartment is very spacious, airy and bright. The bathroom is HUGE and the walk-in closet is a blessing. The gym in the apartment is basic but more than adequate. The best features of the apartment, outside the flat, is the conference room - a lot of Wharton meetings are held here. The front desk folks are very very nice and really helpful. They look out for the apartment residents and their friends. The only thing that is missing is a swimming pool.

Review about the location, will depend on the person. Its close to the university, and the student space at 2401 Walnut

Riverloft

Riverloft is very nice. The staff is friendly. The only issues are that my doors keep breaking and there have been 3 fire alarm drills in the past 5 months.

Good management, large well-built apartments, reactive maintenance

Pros:
- Our manager is super reactive to requests.
- Maintenance requests are done day-of
- Large well built apartments
- Quiet (south facing apartments)
- Good meeting space (conference room / media room)
- Awesome location for Wharton (next to 2401, 17mn walk to Huntsman, across Good Karma Cafe, next to two CrossFit gyms, walking distance from Rittenhouse square)

Cons:
- Parking is overly expensive, as a result garage is barely used.
- Gym is incomplete. Needs more types of machines.
- No rooftop or outdoor space.

"Equidistant to Huntsman Hall and City Hall"

Riverloft is the ultimate in convenience. The walk to and from campus is 15-20 minutes and the walk to City Hall (and less for all the hot restaurants and bars) is only 10-15 minutes. The security guard mildly oversees operations at the lobby and is usually responsive to issues that arise in the building. I have received several noise complaints due to the thin walls, but with a few adjustments - this issue has been rectified. There is a gym on the 2nd floor, and the apartments have very large windows and ceilings. It is a loft style, and is great for having about 5-15 people over. Tred lightly with the partying here, but I have had 60-70 people fit rather tightly into my apartment. Overall, a semi-vanilla renting experience that I have come to appreciate for its overall convenience and low cost!

Great location, but high electric bill

Riverloft does not have leverage or does not try to work against utility companies in the negotiation of utility prices. Residents are required to manage their own relations with the electric utility company and pay for the electricity bill for public spaces in the building. This can make monthly electricity bill extremely high and meters are sometimes inaccurate in accounting for usage, making it a hassle to deal with. Management is not flexible and often charge absurdly, however maintenance in the building is good.

Great 3BR Apartment

The 3BR apartments in Riverlofts are a great deal. We pay $3,750 a month between the three of us (avg $1,250 each) for a comfortable loft style apartment with high ceilings that is over 2,000 square feet. Our only initial concern with the apartment was that the loft bedroom wouldn't have privacy, but this turned out to be zero issue at all (installed some blackout curtains). The place is great for hosting parties, and the thick walls keep our neighbors happy. Management is helpful and very responsive. Enjoy it very much.

Most of the apartments in the building are 1BR which are very spacious and good for couples, but pricey at over $2,000 a month.

Perfect Location

Great location, and the management team here is amazing. They are however remodeling the building, so I do expect rents to go up.

Nice rooms and management but expensive

Large rooms and well positioned in between center city and wharton. Possibly too "middle of the road". Management company very responsive to any problems. Expensive for what it actually provides.

Fitler Square Reviews

The location is unbeatable with close proximity to more action in Rittenhouse, the Schuylkill for running, and a short commute to school/the hospital. Trader Joe's is ~10 minute walk from my house, but there are also a few other smaller grocery stores nearby. It's a very family friendly area with folks of all different ages and tons of dogs.
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
This spot is perfect -- closer to campus, near the train station, huge spaces, kind and helpful staff, cool-looking building, new gym, beautiful park nearby, and overall easy and awesome loft-style living experience. I think people will pressure to have to live on Rittenhouse because that's what everyone immediately says to do, but in reality you can live near Rittenhouse (Locust on the Park is just a 5 minute walk to the square) and not miss out on anything. Fitler Square is beautiful, quiet, and still a perfect location.
Pros: close to school as well as all the fun stuff downtown (Schuylkill River Trail, restaurants, bars, museums, theaters, shopping, you name it!); very safe even walking alone late at night; lots of other students here
Cons: Trader Joe's is the only real grocery store here and may have limited selection for those looking for a supermarket; not as quiet or "neighborhood-y" as other areas, as it is in the heart of downtown; there is a freight train that runs along the river that can be loud, though I got used to it quickly
