Beautiful building, management just ok

The Algonquin is a beautiful building in a perfect location--lots of bars and restaurants, close to Penn Station and the Charm City Circulator. The gym is very nice, the building is secure, and parking is available behind the building. Pets are allowed, although I would not exactly say it is "pet-friendly." Unfortunately, there is no outdoor space. Also, the management, although generally polite, tends to be unresponsive, so if you need something fixed, you have to keep after them. In general, it is a pleasant, convenient, quiet place to live, and I wouldn't mind staying here for a long time.

Poor Renovation

The renovation of the building was sloppily done. Doors painted shut, molding painted over. Gym has rats. Cheap, threadbare carpets, small kitchen only big enough for one. The light fixtures are nice and they are quick to respond to maintenance requests.

Great location

The apartments are great and brand new, management is a little flakey and can be hard to get in touch with maintenance. But the building is beautiful and near to lots of bars and restaurants as well as Penn Station. It's pet friendly so don't ever expect complete silence, but generally it isn't too loud.

Great apartments

I have lived here for one year in a two bedroom with a roommate and just moved into a one bedroom after signing another year lease. The two bedrooms are an incredible value, but the one bedrooms are kind of pricey. The apartments are beautiful though, and you cannot beat the location.

Great space, poor management

The Algonquin has been a wonderful place to live. The communal living areas are extremely spacious and everything is brand new. The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the smaller side but it's never been an issue. If there is ever a maintenance issue, it's taken care of right away. The only complain is the two leasing managers, they are very unfriendly and always seem to be impositioned. The rent is great and extremely low when compared to other Baltimore areas.

Mid-Town Belvedere Reviews

There isn’t too much near by in comparison to other locations in Baltimore, but it is in the middle of the city so it is easy to get places. There isn’t a grocery store nearby, which is probably the biggest con.
UMd Police presence is fairly high, so the area feels reasonably safe. Fairly well lit, and fairly heavily traveled given its location with UB and UMd.
Have only been offered crack once in two years.
It’s a really nice area and is walking distance to a lot of different things. But once you go outside the area it can get a little sketchy
Good bar/restaurant scene, right next to the train/bus station. Some crime but can't help that.
Love how historic it is
Midtown/ Mt Vernon is a very active neighborhood in Baltimore. Artscape is held annually here, and there is regularly activities going on. It very common to see people out and about at all hours. Its situated around several colleges and universities. The real con to the neighborhood, is the lack of viable options for grocery shopping. You must travel to another neighborhood to shop which means more often than not you need to utilize a car. Zipcar is available in many locations.
Mt Vernon is a safe neighborhood with some of the best bars/restaurants of Baltimore (including Brewers Art, The Owl Bar, etc.). It really "feels" like a neighborhood. Main problem: no decent grocery stores on walking distance. Eddies is a disgrace of low quality produce and whole foods-like prices, so you really need a car to do grocery shopping.
This is a fairly safe and clean neighborhood. I checked the Sun's murder and rat complaint maps, and this area has little of either. Eddies of Mount Vernon is an OK grocery store, but I wouldn't go there for everything.
