1919 Market

Love the apartment and the people who work downstairs. Some kinks being worked out and delays with amenities since it is a new building. I think next year (after it has been in operations/ use for 1 year), things will be a bit more smooth.

Brand new building with great amenities and location

I am a first year MBA student at Wharton. Overall, I would recommend this building to someone looking for a brand new building with great amenities and location

Brand new apartment and great amenities

- Everything is brand-new. Brand-new appliances, washer/dryer in unit
- Heater/AC is energy-efficient. Utility bills $20-30 monthly.
- Rooms are facing south, big windows, a lot of sunlight during the day
- Great rooftop lounge, gym facilities
- Parking garage in the building. Zip car is also located in the parking garage

Convenient and safe location

- Easy commute to university city: It takes less than 15 min door to door from my apt to Huntsman hall via Trolley
- Transportation to New York: If you have to make trips to New York every Friday for recruiting, this building is the right building for you (~10 min walking distance from the 30th station/bolt bus stop)
- Groceries/drug stores: Wawa (across the street), CVS (in the building), Trader Joe's (5-10 min walk)
- Market street is one of the main streets in center city and it feels safe at night
- You have to walk a little bit to get to the Rittenhouse area but it's not too bad.

Only downside is it's a bit expensive for the square footage you get. It does have a good, efficient layout for studios with built-in closets for storage, but I wish I had a little more space. Also, it can be a little noisy if you live close to the ground floor (I'm on the 7th floor and I can hear cars honking/fire trucks on market street)

Great Building!

Pro: Brand new building. Slight delays with opening of amenities but the wait was well worth it. Management is very responsive and likes to organize social events for residents to meet. Conveniently located with a CVS in the same building, Wawa across the street, a Trader Joe's about a block away.

Con: Overpriced

Great building but noisy street

The building and apartment is great. The only problem is the fire department on the same street that makes a lot of noise.

1919 Market

Great management. Modern amenities (still being built out), beautiful elevators / hallways and extremely modern and beautiful apartments. For the value and the amazing location, the rent is worth every cent. Management is very easy to reach and accessible, and maintenance is handled quickly. Also with the septa stop right next to the apartment, and amazing eateries all around, we don't think we'll ever leave!

You're paying for location

The apartment looks really nice and luxurious until you move in. You'd expect a standard for what you're paying. However that is not the case here. The appliances are small. The finishing is sub par. The counters are a cheap imitation of granite. I can't say much about the amenities because they aren't finished yet. Even though they were promised at least 3 months ago. The management staff is friendly but they'll find a way to squeeze some extra bucks out of you . For example they tried to collect a $10/month fee for the bike racks then quickly change their tone after getting a flood of complaints. I think this place should be a third cheaper.

Work in Progress

1919 Market is a new building and is still going through construction. The amenities floor is supposed to offer a lot to residents, including a gym and a pool, however it is yet to be completed. The appliances look good, but are cheap. There are many annoying things about the apartment and the appliances that are difficult to swallow considering the rental fee. On the plus side, the bathroom has an excellent layout with a walk-in tiled shower. Our one bedroom and one den apartment offers plenty of closet space (spacious bedroom closet, pantry/linen closet and large coat closet). The extra closet between the bathroom and kitchen (which can be used as a pantry or linen closet) is very useful. The floor to ceiling windows add plenty of light. The kitchen offers tons of cabinets and will fit all of your dishes, serve-ware, appliances and more. The maintenance people and people that sit at the front desk are very accommodating and nice.

Great location to experience Philly

1919 Market is a great place to live! Me and my family are within walking distance to great restaurants, theatres, shopping, Rittenhouse Square, and lots of fun cultural locations. Everything is walkable and the area is very safe. Nearby construction can be loud at times, but great building and community to live in.

Loved the neighborhood. Paying for monthly parking in a nearby garage was not outrageously expensive, was close to center city for fun and errand-running, Target and Whole Foods nearby made for easy groceries when I didn’t want to leave the city. Sabrina’s Cafe is nearby, which is super delicious. BSL was about an 8 minute walk to either Spring Garden or Race-Vine, depending on if I was going north or south. Great area for walking around and getting out of your apartment.
The apartment is technically between Logan Square and Rittenhouse Square. We live right above Trader Joe's, which makes grocery shopping a breeze. We spend a lot of time walking around Rittenhouse Square and Rittenhouse neighborhood to pick up groceries, drink coffee, and generally hang out with each other and friends. The river walk is a short walk away, and the Museum District is within walking distance. Back when I was going to school regularly, the Septa trolley stop is conveniently right in front of our apartment and the 30th Street Station is a 10 minute walk away. While the amenities leave some things to be desired and we pay a premium for our location, it is a great place to live especially for newcomers to Philadelphia who want to be next to all the action.
Unless you mind the noise of cars in the street below, you will not have any issues. Given that is center city there are many people experiencing homelessness so if that is a deal breaker I recommend other neighborhoods. The upside is being 5-10 minutes distance from all the fun, restaurants, activities, nightlife, etc.. that you will ever need.
Super close to Whole Foods and Trader Joes, and I love the walk along the parkway. It's close to various museums which is great! Overall the neighborhood is pretty residential, but there are coffee shops and to-go restaurants that are easy to access.
The neighborhood is a little more commercial but only a minute away from everything wonderful in rittenhouse. But it feels very safe at all times because it’s on a major street.
It is a great location. The law school is a 15 minute walk. Most of Center City is also within a 20 minute radius. A lot of other law students live nearby.
Lots of great bars and restaurants in the area. One of the safest and nicest areas in Philly. There are generally lots of people walking around.
Close to tons of great places to eat/drink, shop, etc. Walking distance to anything in Center City/Callowhill/Art Museum areas.
