Logan Square — 8.6/10 Rating (based on 90 neighborhood reviews)
I absolutely loves the location. Easy walk to work, good food options ranging from fine dining to late-night pizza to bars. It's close to a Whole Foods and a local family owned market called Kleins. Unfortunately, Fairmount is only assessable by bus. City Hall and 30th Street Station is a 30 minute walk away if you need to take the MFL or Regional Rail lines.

Close to both University City and Center City campuses for Drexel. Subway and SEPTA bus stops, plus Drexel bus and the PHLASH (tourist bus). LOTS of construction at the moment, which is irritating at times. Logan Fountain is the place to be during the summer. Short walk to Trader Joe's during the winter when you're snowed in. Also able to walk to Reading Terminal Market (20 minutes), Chinatown (25 minutes), Old City and Penn's Landing (30-40 minutes). Honestly, I love the location and I love all the museums. I spend most of my time at them because I love them and they're so close. Millions of places to eat.

We are a few blocks away from Rittenhouse Square itself, right across the street from City Hall. The only complaint is that the street noise can be very noisy even on the 15th floor. Otherwise it has been great to be so central in the city to everything and for my student, so close to the trolley station at City Hall that runs him right to campus in 10-15mins.

Pros: There are many great places to eat / drink in Rittenhouse. I think the area is overall pretty safe.

Cons: 1) there are a lot of homeless people around the area. You can't leave your apartment without being asked for money several times. 2) there is no grocery store very close. Best options are Trader Joes and Whole Foods, but both are a decent walk.

The vast majority of Wharton students live in Rittenhouse Square, so if that's you, you should live here. I know it is one of the most expensive places to live in the city. Us Wharton students are a bunch of idiots that way.

Feels safe. Trader Joes is a few blocks away. You can probably get much better value on South St with similar distance to bars and grocery stores.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly where University City is right now as a neighborhood, because it's changing so rapidly. It's gone from one of the most dangerous campuses in the country ~5 years ago to incredibly safe. With the new FMC Tower going up at 30th/Walnut, it's hard to say exactly what this area will be like next year... but it's only getting better. It's a nice way to avoid Rittenhouse prices while still being only a stone's throw away from Rittenhouse (and yet at the same time not sacrifice on proximity to campus).

Pros: close to school as well as all the fun stuff downtown (Schuylkill River Trail, restaurants, bars, museums, theaters, shopping, you name it!); very safe even walking alone late at night; lots of other students here
Cons: Trader Joe's is the only real grocery store here and may have limited selection for those looking for a supermarket; not as quiet or "neighborhood-y" as other areas, as it is in the heart of downtown; there is a freight train that runs along the river that can be loud, though I got used to it quickly

Pros: Culturally rich place - near the museum district; 15-30 min walk will take you everywhere - Old City, Chinatown, South St., University City, etc. (Well perhaps that's true for everywhere east of Schuylkill) Work, Play, and Shop within walkable distance - really, no need for a car. It's not Rittenhouse, but it's not as pricey; it's not Washington, so it's not as oddly out of the way; and it's not Franklin, thank God. Logan is lots of families, a handful of schools, some great museums, a scattering of acceptable restaurants, a Whole Foods, an excellent running trail, and some of the most accessible transit options are found on Market as soon as you cross the river. Once you're off that, it's fairly quiet, and the parkway quiets down once commuting is over (unless, of course, a world-class concert or festival is taking place, and is that really that much of a problem?) and the walk from Logan into Center City is a breeze.
