Logan Square — 8.6/10 Rating (based on 160 neighborhood reviews)
Centrally located but isolated enough that it is a quiet block. Walking distance from all means of transportation (bus, trolley, subway, regional train), from city hall, Rittenhouse square, Chinatown, the museum area, the Schuylkill river, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Target. Very close to the highway.

The apartment is technically between Logan Square and Rittenhouse Square. We live right above Trader Joe's, which makes grocery shopping a breeze. We spend a lot of time walking around Rittenhouse Square and Rittenhouse neighborhood to pick up groceries, drink coffee, and generally hang out with each other and friends. The river walk is a short walk away, and the Museum District is within walking distance. Back when I was going to school regularly, the Septa trolley stop is conveniently right in front of our apartment and the 30th Street Station is a 10 minute walk away. While the amenities leave some things to be desired and we pay a premium for our location, it is a great place to live especially for newcomers to Philadelphia who want to be next to all the action.

The apartment is right next to City Hall surrounded by the cultural hub of Philadelphia. There is always a lot to do and often plenty of events going on. The Christmas Village is always a big hit every year as are the concerts that take place in Love Park. It is a very walkable area and honestly may be harder to drive a car around the busy streets right around City Hall. You are less than 5 minutes from convenience stores, a Trader Joes, several different Starbucks and other coffee shops, and more!

Where we live is more of a busy street but it's within 5 mins walk to several other wonderful neighborhoods and tons of restaurants. There's a Rite-Aid in the building, a Trader Joe's within 5 minutes' walking distance, and a Whole Foods within 15 minutes' walking distance. There's construction going on across the street, which makes it hard for Uber and cab drivers to find the building sometimes, but that should end by next year (2017). It's close to public transportation and many of the city's office buildings, though there's no Market-Frankford line stop nearby.

Close to both University City and Center City campuses for Drexel. Subway and SEPTA bus stops, plus Drexel bus and the PHLASH (tourist bus). LOTS of construction at the moment, which is irritating at times. Logan Fountain is the place to be during the summer. Short walk to Trader Joe's during the winter when you're snowed in. Also able to walk to Reading Terminal Market (20 minutes), Chinatown (25 minutes), Old City and Penn's Landing (30-40 minutes). Honestly, I love the location and I love all the museums. I spend most of my time at them because I love them and they're so close. Millions of places to eat.

It's not Rittenhouse, but it's not as pricey; it's not Washington, so it's not as oddly out of the way; and it's not Franklin, thank God. Logan is lots of families, a handful of schools, some great museums, a scattering of acceptable restaurants, a Whole Foods, an excellent running trail, and some of the most accessible transit options are found on Market as soon as you cross the river. Once you're off that, it's fairly quiet, and the parkway quiets down once commuting is over (unless, of course, a world-class concert or festival is taking place, and is that really that much of a problem?) and the walk from Logan into Center City is a breeze.

Pros: Culturally rich place - near the museum district; 15-30 min walk will take you everywhere - Old City, Chinatown, South St., University City, etc. (Well perhaps that's true for everywhere east of Schuylkill) Work, Play, and Shop within walkable distance - really, no need for a car. (if you need one, car/bikeshare is everywhere here.)

Cons: JFK and Market st. can be quite noisy with cars and fire engines from the nearby fire dept - some people may have difficulties sleeping at night due to that.

I live in Rittenhouse just because everyone else does. It has nice green space, good restaurants, and it's decently positioned relative to campus. I do think I'd rather live closer to campus, though, if other students would move there, too, just to have a shorter commute. Also because Rittenhouse is expensive, so it would be nice to pay less.

Originally was concerned it'd be too far from the "Rittenhouse Bubble" - in reality only 2 blocks away from great restaurant / bar scene. That 2 blocks provides a quieter atmosphere while still providing anything we need at our fingertips (convience store/deli, cleaners, nail salon, all in the building).

A bit north of the beaten path for Wharton, but it's actually only a 5 minute walk from Rittenhouse park. Really convenient for going to / from pub on Thursdays. Food options are not fantastic within a 2 block radius, but you have easy access to all the north-of-Rittenhouse options.

I need to travel outside of city daily for work so proximity to a SEPTA station was a crucual factor in deciding to stay here. Suburban station is just a 10-15 min walk from here. We have a Whole Foods nearby as well and lots of pubs for the weekends.

Location is great with lot of people living around. It's a very vivid region.
Minor issues are: fire trucks drive by very often with sirens on and as in most center city, you'll often cross ways with beggars and drunk people.

It's not a bad neighborhood, but it can get deserted. It's a pretty corporate area. Coffee shops are closed on the weekend, that kind of thing. It's close enough to other neighborhoods though, so you don't feel super isolated.

The sterling is in center city near City Hall, close enough to Rittenhouse Square action, and is situated on JFK. It's convenient for parking and for public transport to school (15-20m door to door). However it's super loud here, due to biker / ATV gangs and cars revving engines on JFK.

The neighborhood is great in terms of access to banking, salon, restaurants, tailors and nightlife. However there are some noisy people who camp out on the street corners and scream all night. I am on a high floor so I don't always hear it -- but it is something to watch out for.
