Woodbury Gardens

My partner and I really enjoy living at Woodbury. We have a cozy one bedroom apartment with a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer in the apartment which is incredibly convenient (though not all units have washing machines). We also take advantage of the community gym (it has Peloton bikes!), pool, study spaces and printers. It is a quiet community with lots of young adults and families. We are close to a grocery store, CVS, great coffee shop and fun bowling alley, and we are on a bus line that stops at the law school.

Solid apartments, good value

Woodbury is a solid option for people with roommates or families. Good complex, decent buildings, pet friendly, generally friendly staff. It's a bit far away so it can be tough to go places if you don't have a car, but it's close to bus lines and to Lucky's supermarket. Downside is that all units are either apartments or townhomes, so the walls are relatively thin and water pressure can be iffy (since plumbing is shared by all the residents).

Okay place to live - very convenient

Woodbury gardens is a fine property and very responsive to any issues you may have. The commute to school is the best part about it however. For someone who doesn't want to be on campus with all the undergrad's or for someone like me who has a spouse, this is a great option.

Great apartment and flexible lease!

Really safe and secure environment. I lived here as a student, and now as a young professional, and love how easy it is to get to campus and downtown. The management is really responsive and the leases can be flexible. I really enjoy living here, and the community is very pet friendly.

Good change of pace compared to Ross

The apartment is clean and spacious. Staff is accommodating and responsive. Even though it locates a little further from Ross, the public bus and the apartment shuttle alleviate the problem. The environment is calm quiet for those that seek an 'escape' from the hustle bustle one of Ross.

Affordable and good living space with roommates

If you want to live by yourself, Woodbury's 1bed/1bath is expensive considering it's quite far from campus. You're better off looking somewhere closer to Ross. But if you're willing to have roommates and don't mind the bus ride, I highly recommend Woodbury, especially the 3 bed/2 bath townhouse.

3 bedroom townhouse is very affordable. My rent (smallest room) is less than 600, not including internet and utilities, so total per month comes around 650, which is still very cheap. There's a basement equipped with in-unit washer and dryer. Shuttle bus in the morning and evening is very convenient because somehow it works well with Ross class schedule. Gym has most equipment you need for a good workout. The neighborhood is quiet. Management responds promptly to maintenance requests and other questions.

Downside of the townhouse is that the units are quite old (the regular apartments are more updated). The floor can be loud when you walk around and often times I find bugs, small and large, around the house. But overall these are not deal breakers for us.

Pretty good spot

One of the better options for student families and pet owners. Safe neighborhood with sidewalks, two playgrounds, and a dog park. 7-10 min drive or 15-20 min bike ride to campus. Close to a nice grocery store and the Big House; easy access to public transportation. There is also a complimentary shuttle bus that runs to/from campus on weekdays. Management is very responsive and the clubhouse pool is nice in the summer; however, the fitness center is very small. Covered parking is an additional cost of $25 per month and the pet fee is $30 per month.

Affordable, spacious, and convenient living at Woodbury Gardens

Woodbury Gardens is a great place for couples and families. The units are very spacious and affordable, and the property management team is extremely responsive. The only downside is that Woodbury Gardens is a little farther from campus than most other housing complexes, but there is a city bus and Woodbury Gardens shuttle available at convenient times to easily commute to and from school. I highly recommend Woodbury Gardens!

Woodbury Gardens is its own community - so we don't get a lot of surrounding neighborhood effect and it's quieter.

I haven't had to go to school in person yet (due to the pandemic) - but once things are back in person, I would use the community shuttle to get to campus and possibly back depending on the time of day I head back. Otherwise, I would take the bus or walk. Walking takes about 30 min but the bus will cut down most of that since there is a city stop right at the entrance to Woodbury.
Overall, a nice and quiet neighborhood that feels secure and is slightly removed from campus, so you're away from the hustle and bustle of the University. Definitely a grad student neighborhood. Close to public transit lines, and there is a nice grocery store near the apartment complex. Running trails are nearby, and road access to I-94 is pretty quick as well. Within an extended walk of campus, the Big House, and Ross. Really enjoy living here.
I like the convenience of getting to Ross in six minutes for class, group meetings, or coffee chats. It’s great to be able to come home and grab a quick bite before changing into a suit and walking back over. Easy walk to hockey games, and about 15 minutes to Bus/Big House. Well situated to make it to social gatherings at Skeeps, Rick’s, Munger, or any other place.
Woodbury is on the other side of Stadium Ave from Burns Park, but it's convenient access. The complex itself is pretty friendly; lots of law students around though it takes a bit of effort to get to know neighbors since everyone is on their own schedules and it's a generally older crowd.
Quiet neighborhood, many UMich grad students. Good availability of shops and amenities. Definitely has a more suburban feel than the areas closest to campus/downtown and not as many restaurants/bars nearby.
Quieter area with more families and not many undergraduate students. Still walkable to campus, but you probably won’t want to do the walk in the winter and need a car to get to grocery stores.
The neighborhood has everything you need (grocery, coffee, pharmacy, etc.) and is close to the Big House. It is farther away from downtown's bars, restaurants, and other amenities.
Safe, albeit there have been bicycle theft issues. It is quiet here in the community. Walking distance to UM Stadium, not far from Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Plum Market, etc...
