Lenox at Patterson Place for Int. Students

Located in South Durham, Lenox at Patterson Place offers comfort living within a few miles of campus and Downtown Durham.

There are recommended well-known restaurants nearby and retail grocery stores like Walmart. Open living areas, and spectacular views of the surrounding area.

Big disadvantage is transportation. I’d recommend getting a car to commute

Lenox at Patterson Place: Far but Great

While Lenox is far from campus and housing that most international students use, it’s a fantastic option for those that seek comfort, security and good amenities. The service from the main offices is generally good and fast, especially if you find issues with your apartment, which they usually don’t appear. The only setback is the distance. I’d recommend getting a car or taking the bus.

Highly recommend

Really like it here, valet trash, very clean, routine pest control.

Happy Overall

Overall, I enjoy living at Lenox at Patterson Place. I'm a first-year graduate student at Duke, and I plan to live here next year. The complex is a 10-minute drive from campus, but that drive is longer with bad traffic. Some of the other students in my program chose to live as close to campus as possible. I expanded my search because I couldn't find any apartment complexes right around Duke that were 1.) affordable and 2.) of decent quality. Lenox meets both criteria for me. There is some noise. For example, you can hear people coming up the stairs, closing their doors, etc., but the noise is nothing compared to the apartment I used to live in. Temperature control is great. No pest problems. I think this is a decent place if you don't mind a short drive to Duke and are looking for something nice as well as not too expensive.

Far away but great

Lenox is a great place to stay. There is not so many Fuqua or Duke students living here, mostly because it's 6 miles away from Fuqua Campus. Most of the residents in Lenox is family. It's quiet, has a lot of parking lot. Gym(not fancy) provided; self-serve car washing and vacuum provided. There is a pool, but most of the time, there are a lot of kids. Fewer parties. The view is great; sometimes you see deer passing the community. It's near by walmart(1 mile), whole foods(3 miles), trader joe(3 miles), best buy(1 mile)

affordable apartment complex 10 minute drive to Fuqua

I have lived in this complex for my 2 years at Fuqua. It is a 10minute drive to campus. The grocery store and Walmart are both within a 2 minute drive of the apartment. The units are small, but I do not mind. Many of the apartments around school are double to price I am paying. The apartment complex is not luxurious in any way like some of the ones by Fuqua are, but you have to make the decision for yourself if that is something you care about. I would recommend my complex to anyone who is looking for an affordable 1 bedroom apartment that doesn't need the upgrades (stainless steel kitchen appliances, hardwood floors, granite countertops, etc).

I love my apartment

I really like my apartment. It's about 10 minutes from school. It doesn't feel like I am far away, and I am only a short car ride away from all of the school related activities. The only thing is I wish the space was a tad bigger (its 700sq ft so its definitely a decent size). It is not a popular student building at all, but that is why I like it because it is a super quiet complex.

Getting around Chapel Hill

It's very quiet: mostly graduate students and some families. Very convenient for getting to McColl. It is tucked away in the corner of campus so if you want to walk anywhere, it takes about a mile to get into campus. I would recommend having a car for this neighborhood since there are no grocery stores within walking distance.
Love being right on Franklin street. Walking distance to football games and tailgates as well as restaurants and bars on Franklin.
Lots of food options around the building. I regularly walk my dog in the area around the apartment.
The neighborhood is mostly for other UNC students.
Carrboro is really cool, if slightly offbeat place to be. Weaver St Market and a bevy of other restaurants/smaller places make it a good food hub. For things going on, there are things like the Carrboro Arts Fest, weekly "Carrboro Street Markets" with lots of vendors, and a flurry of other community-oriented activities.

Have enjoyed my time there.
Lots of stores, gym in neighborhood, church, groceries--basically a little town. Con is that it almost feels a bit "Pleasantville." That said, the Walmart up the road (<2 min) is wonderful as is Fig & Honey and the huge Harris Teeter (<5 min away) in Chatham county. Families and children amidst Med School students and retirees. Great feeling, awesome convenience to UNC and downtown CH. Highly recommend.
Neighborhood feels super safe. Little kids will like the playground on-site. Lots of friends for them to play with. Elementary school (Glenwood) is awesome, if not old. Plenty of community events to meet people and for kids to play. I like it here, and recommend it to most people.
The neighborhood is very convenient for business grad students, however, it is far from everything else. You need to get a car for everything, except going to school. It still compensates, given that uber is cheap in the region and the convenience to go to school is amazing.
