Station Nine is the easiest location from which to access the majority of Fuqua social events (pool parties and BBQs here or at Berkshire 9), Tavern Tuesday, Dain's, etc.

It's not the nicest building, nor is it necessarily the best value for your money, but it's easy.

One of the most important features of living at S9 (that can't be replicated elsewhere) is having access to your classmates. If you need help on an assignment or with interview prep, then your neighbor is probably doing the same thing so you can quickly access help. This is very key in the business school experience.

Many Fuqua student live here, which is nice, but can be noisy at times. I think your money could go farther elsewhere and there are so many nice, new buildings in Durham these days. The leasing office is not open 24/7, which is an inconvenience at times and the gym is pretty small and only has basic equipment.

Station 9 is a great place to live if you want to be back in the full college environment. With 30% of students living in the same apartment complex, there are always people to hang out with and rides to school. It is right next to a grocery store and multiple places to get food as well.

Station 9 is synonymous with Duke's Fuqua School of Business. If you intend to live there and you are not in the business school... prepare yourself.

Now that being said, I think that EVERYONE should consider the other options around. Berkshire Ninth, Berkshire Main, Solis (or whatever that new place on 9th street is) are all brand new and nicer. Station nine isn't worth the already high price they are charging. Nothing is "nice" - it is all mediocre. The gym is small, the business center is meh. They installed a dog washing room (for those of us without dogs, this is useless). The open air hallways are dingy. The apartments themselves are fine, but nothing special. Basically, it is built to accommodate the partying that is typical of the business school.

Other apartment complexes have far nicer gyms, social rooms, etc.

If you're single and social, just live in Station Nine. Honestly, it doesn't get that loud and you'll be able to get work done. You'll get FOMO if you don't.

Given the multitude of new apartment buildings going up around Station Nine, management hasn't taken steps to compete. Carefully weigh the discount in rent with a significant decrease in amenities, cleanliness of facilities, and helpfulness of staff.

If business school students decide to migrate to another complex, it will have the same critical mass effect, but nicer.

This complex has all the required amenities and comforts to make your busy business school student life stress free. Management is responsive, notifies you when there's a package, their app to put in maintenance requests is handy and easy and overall it's quiet depending on where your apartment is located. Expensive for what Durham is, but the best part is your neighbors are your classmates or friends and it is so easy to hang out with your peeps!

I've chatted with some maintenance people in passing, and they estimate about 80% of Station Nine to be Fuqua. You might expect it to be a party place all the time, but our unit is pretty quiet and peaceful. If you like the quiet, pick a unit that's not pool-facing. Staff are very friendly, nice, and are responsive to concerns. Maintenance requests are answered promptly.

Most two-bedroom units have one bedroom in which the central air vent/fan sits. (You can see it on the floor plan.) Depending on how sensitive to white noise you are, you might not like it.
