Great place for students

This townhouses are perfect for students. Each bedroom has their own bathroom + half bathroom downstairs for guests, decent size kitchen, washer and dryer in unit, very close to Duke bus stand! The landlord is very good at management requests too.

Great value townhouse for students

I have had a great experience at my Blue Crest townhouse. The value of the home is great, and I pay a very low price for rent for a 2bd 2.5ba. The half bathroom downstairs is great for guests. As far as things to be improved upon, it would be great if there was some sort of balcony/porch to sit outside. Also, the townhouse complex has a park bench in the middle of the complex, but no other amenities (gym, security system/gates, leasing office, etc). However, I have still felt very safe living here. Also, it isn't the most spacious house, and there isn't a lot of space for storage of larger items, but I have been able to make do with the kitchen closet and room closet. There is the LL Duke transit bus that is a short walk outside of the apartment complex, and I have been able to rely on that most days. Free parking for you and any guests is also a plus!

Just quite cheap and convenient transportation

Just 2b 2b in a little house.
Thin wall.
But it is relatively cheap than surrounding houses.

a nice townhouse for students

Pro: Blue Crest is close to the LL bus stop. Parking is free and always available, and there is no criminal record since I live in this townhouse. quiet place. The most significant advantage for students is that it is cheap!! and 2b2.5b is excellent for two residents.
Con: No gate. No leasing office like Belmont and other apartments.

Perfect Location, Cheap Rent, No-Frills Housing

The apartment had not been cleaned by the realty prior to our arrival since it was a lease transfer, so we had to clean things ourselves as the realty took too long to get back to us. They eventually came to sanitize the carpets. That is the main downside about the place. Aside from that, the two-story condo is spacious and functional. It has a washer and dryer in the unit, and the two rooms have a walk-in closet and are of the same size, each with a private bathroom.
What I like most about the apartment is that it is situated 20 feet away from a bus stop on the Lasalle Loop Duke bus route, and that it is three minutes away by foot from the Heights at Lasalle Apartments.

Excellent choice for Duke Students living near west campus

I have stayed here for almost two years. It is a townhouse with 2b and 2b upstairs, and living room and kitchen and another 0.5 bathroom downstairs. My place is owned by an old English couple who are very very nice! All of the utilities and furniture are included. It is an excellent choice for families, couples, friends living near west campus. There is a bus stop just around the corner and walking distance is 20 minutes walk.

Getting around Erwin - LaSalle

Erwin - LaSalle Reviews

430 reviews
It's been perfectly fine. People are nice but it's not much of a community, just a place where people live. Behind the Belmont which had a spate of robberies a few months back, but the Flats is further away from the main road and is better lit. So far no security incidents or concerns at the Flats. Affordability depends on which apartment complex you choose in the Erwin-LaSalle area. Wide range in rents, ranging from very expensive to very affordable depending on which one you pick.
The broader neighborhood's chief attribute is convenience to Duke. A lot of students live in the apartment complexes around here. It can be inconvenient sometimes getting to a supermarket from the neighborhood, though (eventually they're going to re-open a Harris Teeter on Hillsborough, which should mitigate this issue somewhat).
The neighborhood was perfectly fine when I started living there, but recently there have been some armed robberies in apartment buildings that are about a 10 minute walk away. However, I would like to say that I have not felt unsafe walking home at night and the security at Trinity is quite high. For example, you have to use a special key to get into the lobby (where a security guard sits after dark) and then you have to use the key to get in from the lobby to where the rooms are, and then again to get into your room. There are about 10 good restaurants within walking distance ranging from greek food to Mexican food to sushi so it's great for a quick dinner when you don't want to cook. There is also a hair salon and a manicure place, as well as a Walgreens pharmacy. We are very close to Duke Hospital and the bus systems are very accessible.
The apartments are close to campus and easily accessible through bus, bike, or walking if desired. There is a nearby Kroger that is a less than 5 min drive away just up LaSalle St. Overall, there are some older apartments further up the road that have had issues with crime in the past, but The Heights and other apartments around the area seemed to be insulated from those issues.
The food in the area is really accessible and I feel quite safe in the surrounding area, excluding the gas stations and bus stop. I've heard some odd things at night but never seen anything fishy and feel safe coming home at night. +Tons of dogs!
Lofts is right next to a few restaurants - TGIFridays, Chipotle, Enzo's, Noodles, Smash Burger, Sushi Love, etc. The Kroger grocery store is just a few minutes away, off of Lasalle. This is a quiet neighborhood.
Quiet neighbourhood. Conveniently located to West Campus and walking distance to Fuqua. Easy and healthy fast food options nearby. Close to food stores e.g. Kroger & Harris Teeter. Close to WaDuke trail.
Not the safest neighborhood and has little transit. There have been issues at other apartment complexes with safety, but Heights has been very safe. It is absolutely fine to walk around in the day here, but not at night. There are not very many restaurants or bars nearby, although downtown Durham is 10 minutes away.
