It's a good place at an affordable price

Look for an apartment on the second floor and you should be set.

Affordable, decent, convenient

Close to university and an affordable option. No amenities or utilities included. Slightly safer than other options in the neighbourhood.

Campus Walk Review

Overall it's been a good experience. Value for money. But of a concern when it comes to security because it's not a gated society.

Very Convenient

This place is great. It's very close to the bus stop to go to campus. The apartments are pretty good for the rent we pay.
The management is very responsive and takes immediate action to any problems anyone faces. They also hold several fun events for their residents.
2748 Campus Walk Avenue is a very safe place, but I've heard people be sceptical about 2752 Campus Walk Avenue.
Lastly, there are no additional amenities here like gym, pool, etc. Just the houses and parking lots.

Campus Walk Review

It is an affordable option for those who have budget constraints. But it is a very lively apartment and mostly every house around is filled with Duke Students, so one wouldn't feel alone and scared during semesters.

Getting around Erwin - LaSalle

Erwin - LaSalle Reviews

203 reviews
Close to Fuqua, but there's nothing nearby. No shops, restaurants or grocery stores that are walking distance; (Everything is a short drive away, however) so it makes the area overall feel pretty dead/empty. If you want to be somewhere lively but that's still close, I'd recommend 9th street instead...: Dozens of cute restaurants, shops, and anything you need just a few steps away from your door.
The neighborhood is really unsafe and you'll often hear about people get robbed on gunpoint on LaSalle street. There is literally nothing in the area, except a few restaurants at Erwin Street and Krogers which is 15 minute walk from the Heights.
It is highly recommended to not walk around in this area post sunset.
You need a car to get groceries, Erwin Road is a busy 4 lane road and there is the hospital right next door so you hear sirens all the time. Issues with homelessness and fights outside the apartment as well.
Campus Walk is well located both in terms of proximity to both the campus and basic amenities. However, after 6 pm at nights, the neighbourhood gets very lonely which makes it all the more unsafe to venture.
Recently there have been many break-ins in and around apartments in the neighbourhood, although no one was harmed.
The Belmont is one of the nicer properties in the area. I didn't think the places across the street were as good. They are probably about 30% Duke people and the rest are regular Durham residents. If you go further down LaSalle, it is less safe. The apt complex next to the Belmont is a bit sketchy.
The neighborhood feels very safe. When I first moved in, management sent out a note that two cars had been stolen from the garage, which seemed concerning but I heard that the cars had been left unlocked or something to that effect. I am careful about locking my car in general and have never felt any issues around safety in this neighborhood. It is quite convenient to have a few restaurants/UPS in the adjacent complex.
Don't really care about the neighborhood except that it is walking distance to campus and has some quick eat places to stop by on the way back from school if needed. Almost exclusively students here.
Chipotle, smashburger, noodles & co. all directly (literally) outside the front gate.
Fuqua less than a mile. Closest apartment complex there is. Also close to hospital and gas station.
