Great management and one of the cheaper options nearby

Management is wonderful. They know my roommate and I by name and are very responsive. I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes for even minor repairs. The apartment building itself is a little older and does not have the greatest insulation or aesthetics, but overall the experience has been great. Although there might be 1-2 cheaper apartments nearby, we chose to pay a small amount extra because of the management issues at other apartments. Overall this apartment is on the cheaper side of options still. Parking can get competitive at night sometimes, but there are after hours spots nearby (across the street) for the rare times when a spot in the back lot is no available. We are a 10-15 minute walk from med campus, and we are also located next to a bus stop that drops off at Taubman which has been convenient. They are very pet-friendly (even dogs which is rare to find).

Med Center Review

I've lived here for four years and have had an overall very positive experience. It's quiet and convenient to the hospital and jogging path around the river.

One potential negative is that construction just started on some condos nextdoor. The apartments that face the construction (a minority) could be quite loud.

About as good as you can get

Overall, this is a solid but old apartment complex. Management and utilities have always been very responsive for me. Rent is expensive, but not out of line relative to the general pricing in the housing market here. Excellent location near two parks and the medical complex. Walls are thin, but I have a corner unit, which minimizes issues. Parking is very convenient and I have never struggled to find a spot to park.

Very nice, but with minor issues

Good: Apartments are older, but extremely well taken care of. Maintenance responses are extremely prompt, and the super, Dorian, is very understanding and easy to work with.

Bad: Have to pay for laundry (and the water it uses), it's 3.00/load which is too much. You can have pets, but you have to pay a monthly fee plus a nonrefundable initial deposit. Apartments could use another window or two.

Awesome Management

The management company is very prompt and attentive. Overall, very good experience. Cons: parking is a problem late at night, very thin walls, 1 laundry machine for 12 apartments.

Great Apartments!

2 bedroom 1 bathroom garden level apartment in Medical Center Court. It’s a great apartment with more natural light than expected given the garden level. Each room has tall windows and the living space is very spacious. One bedroom is considerably larger than the other so may need to work that out with your roommate beforehand, it is ~10 minutes walk from door to door of the hospital, so getting to clinicals is not a problem!

Great place - rent a bit steep

The apartments here are clean and relatively up to date. The management is very, very responsive and gets things done quickly. They are also very friendly and does a great job overall. When I had kitchen sink leak on Thanksgiving, someone arrived in about 2 hours to fix it.

Laundry is in the complex or complex next-door depending on your unit.

Parking is generally easy to find - though transition times (e.g. August) can be a bit crowded.

There is a small mini-gym with a treadmill and some weights. It's not a bad space for a quick, simple workout.

My only complaint is how steep the rent is for what you get.

Hard to beat location

The good: front office staff is excellent, service requests always fixed quickly and professionally, quick walk to the medical school and University hospital, close to bus stops, short drive to downtown and grocery stores, well-maintained grounds, small gym in complex, parking included in rent (as long as spots are available)

The meh: older apartments, one washer/dryer per 12 apartment units, thin walls/floors/ceilings, small kitchens, not well insulated

North Campus is the place to be!! Lots of trails and nature for walking, NCRB gym nearby, grocery stores, gas, food, and more. Mostly graduate students up here so quieter but also within 10 min drive to downtown. There's always parking too.
I have lived in A2 for going on 14 years, it is sort of like having a friend, even when you are alone.

Me and a friend and her dog visit neighborhood parks.

That dog met the caged bald eagle at Leslie Science Center.. and twang!
To the end of his leash! The eagle looked at him like he was the most delicious thing he's seen all Winter. We just trudged thru the snow to view the cages, (both eagle and dog are ok)
Great quieter area very close to the hospital, and close to many other med students. It’s a more peaceful area that’s a tad farther from downtown, but for someone who likes a quieter space to study or nice spaces to walk and hang out with friends, white coat area is right by the river and Island Drive Park, and there are often med student social events held at White Coat Area because so many medical students choose to live here.
I personally really like North Campus, although it is farther away from downtown and the law school. There are several restaurants right near my apartment complex and the commute to school is very easy. I also find the lack of nightlife a plus, because it means the neighborhood is a lot quieter and safer than other areas of Ann Arbor.
Overall this area is great for walking to the medical school and hospital, living near other medical students, and especially having easier parking than in the central downtown/kerrytown areas. You also escape the rowdiness of undergrads by living here. The main reason I gave it a "7/very good" rating was because I don't like feeling isolated in location from central campus. Walking from White Coat to restaurants/bars downtown is at least 20-25 minutes, and often I decide not to go just because I don't want to walk there and back. After 6PM everyday parking is free downtown (free all day on Sunday), which is nice, except you don't always want to drive if you are going out to bars. It would be nice to have some type of casual coffee shop or restaurant in walkable distance to White Coat, but there is not. (edit: there is one breakfast-like cafe near White Coat, but it gets busy and is over-priced). There are some restaurants and coffee shops down the street on Plymouth road (not downtown) which is an easy 5 minute drive.
Multiple apartment/condo complexes within 10 minute walk of one another creating central location for many medical students of the University of Michigan. Park is 5 minute walk away. Lecture halls are 15 minutes door to hall. Hospital is 15-20 minutes from door to specific area of hospital. Never any safety issues. Parking can be strict and limited. Few stores and restaurants nearby.
This neighborhood is a 10 minute walk to the hospital which makes is very popular for medical students, residents, and even attendings. It is quiet, but it can be very busy in the morning and around 4pm when everyone is arriving/leaving their shifts. Grocery stores, cafes, and restaurants are a 5 min drive away near north campus.
Pros: beautiful - near the Huron River (5 min walk!) and trails and lots of trees. Very quiet. Residential area - maybe only 20% students vs. long-term residents where I am, though I'm close to the hospitals and med students, architects, and engineers all live up here. Very safe, and I see deer or even a raccoon once in a while. Grocery store is 1 mile away (Kroeger).

Cons: less social than I like in terms of proximity to Rossers. There is only one on my street that I know of.
