2116 Chestnut is one of the best buildings in Philadelphia. I have no complaints.

Best Decision

Love Love Love this building. Huge Wharton community and nice apartments with floor to ceiling windows and everything is newly renovated. Only downside is the carpet.

Great amenities including: conference rooms, movie theater, roof deck, and common areas.

Best apartment in centre city

Rent can be a little high but the facilities are amazing. Convenient. Lots of parties are held here. View is great. Love the floor to ceiling windows. The recent change in management affected the service quality a little but it's all about a not really smooth transition. Rules of the party room have changed so there are less social events here than there should be.

Change in Management

The management of 2116 Chestnut changed during Summer of 2015 and things got unfortunately worse. The new management is not doing a good job in terms of providing security and the expected level of communication with tenants regarding different things.

2116 Chestnut

I was one of the first residents to move into 2116. The amenities are great - grills, deck, gym, conference rooms, etc. The apartment was very large even though it's a studio. Maintenance staff was very responsive and always fixed anything within a few days.

Expensive but with some perks

Full of a lot of graduate students and as a non graduate student, I wish there were more young professionals. Outdoor space (grills, tables and chairs) and gym are great assets. Maintenance is awesome. Price is very high and management could be better

Nice apartment, new and well-managed. Super close to supermarkets and 2401 (meeting location for students) which made life a lot easier.

2116 Chestnut is the best

I absolutely love living in 2116 Chestnut - the apartment is beautiful, the amenities are great, a ton of my friends live in the building - it is well worth the higher price!

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.

Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman

Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!

The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.

Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.

The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient

Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
