Dorchester Towers

Pests are the main issue with this apartment. It doesn't matter if there is absolutely no food out and everything is clean as can be. It is also quite dark, lots of windows but the sun is blocked by surrounding buildings.

Dorchester Towers

Very affordable for Arlington. The catch is the building is pretty outdated and it is not Metro accessible. But 2350/month with utilities included for a 1400 sq foot apartment is a great deal! And there are a lot of bus stops nearby. They allow cats with no fees/deposit/pet rent, but they don't allow dogs. There's a Giant and some restaurants and bars just a 5 minute walk away. Parking is free (but no overnight guest parking). It's a quick drive to the better social scenes in Clarendon or DC. The rooftop is really nice and there's a pool (I haven't used it so can't comment on how good it is) and a rose garden. There's no gym. While it isn't "downtown" or in a popular neighborhood, it's a great value.

Columbia Pike Reviews

Alcova heights, sort of suburban very quiet and very safe but walking distance to stores and restaurants.
There is a newer Giant grocery store and places to grab drinks and food, some nicer than others. Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse is close. Safe and new developments being built.
Very safe and convient neighborhood. Close to downtown DC and shops and restaurants. The grocery store (Giant) is also right across the street from the building.
Lots of stuff nearby, including grocery store, coffee shops, movies, restaurants, fast food, diners. Convenient to walk to some of these places.
The neighborhood is very family friendly. I can walk, bike, or bus easily to the metro/Pentagon City mall or bus/bike to the law school. Walking distance to fair assortment of restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, etc. on Columbia Pike. Neighborhood is dotted with parks, tennis courts, short bike path, and other recreation.
Absolutely lovely place to live. Lots of food options in a highly diverse neighborhood.
Quiet and residential. A little ways from any restaurants or grocery stores, but there's good bus transport and Capital Bikeshare nearby.
In the past few years, Columbia Pike has been "revitalized" with the construction of new apartment buildings and stores. Unfortunately, we only saw the rebuilding of the nearby Arlington Mill Community Center and apartments, but no new stores. The selection at immediate walking distance isn't good -- just a CVS and then fast food or Salvadoran restaurants. Even though I've learned to appreciate "pupusas" I'd like to see more variety and get my coffee at Starbucks instead of McDonald's.
