Excellent Price for Good Quality Apartment

My experience here has been amazing thus far. Management is relatively responsive to resident concerns being that it is university housing. Additionally, the rent is subsidized and covers a lot of utilities. From my own anecdotal experience, it seems that a lot of students have trouble getting housing here. For good reason. This apartment is fantastic—especially if you have children.

Special place for kids

I love the community environment. Is very special place for kids. I think the only think that could be better is the cleaning service of the community areas.

University Village Family Housing

If you’re in a long-term relationship and will be living with your partner, this is by far the best deal you can get on rent in LA.

Pretty good!

So far the experience is good. It’s a very private and comfortable apartment complex and the apartments themselves are well kept. It is heavily geared towards families with children, and there are no washer/dryers in the room. It’s a common laundry room. Maintenance is good. The pictures on the UCLA website are very outdated, and make it look worse than it is.

Close to Essentials and Affordable

The complex is close to major bus lines (SMBBB 8, 17 and Culver City 6/Rapid 6) as well as grocery stores within walking distance.

While price does go up every year, it is much more affordable than living in Westwood and/or nearby places in West Los Angeles.

It would be nice if they updated their apts.

Most affordable housing in the UCLA area, but terrible management

Concerns about the property are ignored, maintenance is slow and bad, and the buildings are dated and poorly built.

The only saving grace: location.

Inexcusably thin walls floors and ceiling, rough old industrial carpet, right next to 405 with windows so thin you'd think you're standing in the middle of the freeway, rat and mice infestation, insecure key card entry to front door, poor plumbing (constantly shutting off water for repairs), major leaks causing extreme water damage are common. Garages are too small for most family sized vehicles despite it being family housing. Laundry rooms are always dirty and the machines are old and ruin clothes. UCLA hates its grad students, especially the ones that can't afford LA rents and are forced to live in student housing. UCLA can afford to make significant renovations but refuses to. Management is prejudiced and unresponsive.

Feels very in the center of everything so things are not super close but not far either. Neighborhood is safe, stores and everything I need is close by.
This is one of the safer areas in LA, it’s about a 15 to 20 minute drive to UCLA, and the same distance to the beach. It’s also conveniently right at the intersection of the 405 and 10 highways. There is a very nice neighborhood across the street where we can walk, and there is a park. It is right next to a highway and Sawtelle is a busy street, so it can be quite loud. LA has a significant homeless population, and this exists around the housing as well, but the housing complex is a gated community. There are many restaurants nearby. Overall, it’s a good neighborhood.
There is a big park with grills, tennis courts, hockey court, baseball, soccer... trader joes, whole foods, ralphs, vons. No traffic around, in the middle of ucla, lax airport, venice/sta monica, downtown. Easy access to fwy.
Everything you need if you're not trying to go out on the town all the time. Close to a great farmer's market and the hot West LA neighborhoods.
Neighborhood is good. Convenient to 405 and UCLA. Some stuff within walking distance, plus short drive to Sawtelle, Palms, Venice, and Culver.
There's not a lot going on in the neighborhood, but it's fairly convenient to get to campus, and there are plenty of grocery stores. Before covid, it was sometimes inconvenient when I wanted to do social things in other parts of the city, since it can take a long time to go places by public transit.
These apartments are only 20 minutes away from campus by car, or about 35-50 minutes by bus. Two bus lines (SM Big Blue Bus lines 8 and 17) run near here and go straight to campus every 20 minutes, and we're also close to the Expo line which goes to Santa Monica and Downtown.

There are a lot of good restaurants and things to do nearby, and we're within walking distance to a Ralphs and a few other places. The stores around here have decent sized parking lots and don't get too busy. I don't feel unsafe walking around or taking public transport here.
There have been a couple of safety issues, but that’s fairly small considering the 1,600 units.
