Review on The Rose

Great value. Cheap rent. Fairly close distance from Santa Monica, Sawtelle, Westwood, and Brentwood. However, sufficient yet limited restaurants within walking parameter. Loudness because of closeness to school + thin walls. Building is aged and has limited amenities. Washer and dryer in unit is a plus.

Rose Review

I really enjoy living where I do. In Sawtelle, the apartments are much larger and more updated for the same price as apartments in Westwood.

Review

Overall, this is a convenient location with some recently updated apartments. The owners and/or mgmt company isn't too concerned with upkeep. After being gone for a week or more, I always have to run my shower for a few minutes before getting in to let all the build up rust colored water pass through. We also occasionally have furniture and shopping carts in the hallway. When residents move out, sometimes they just leave furniture on the sidewalk. Maintenance is responsive and our apartment is spacious, so it's certainly bearable.

Great value, huge floorplan

Really enjoying the building so far. Tons of space with living room and kitchen and 2 master bedrooms (out of 3) with walk in closets. Half of residents are families, but they put all the young people together so it works out really well. Never any noise complaints and people are pretty respectful. Not a ton with amenities, but it's Brentwood, next to the key Anderson bars, and lots of sushi nearby. Would definitely rent here again.

Very spacious with large windows and lots of natural light. Lots of privacy.

The Rose Apt has been fantastic. The apt is very spacious and fits 4 people very comfortably. Each roommate has their own room and walk in closet and no two rooms share a wall so it's very private. It's walking distance to restaurants and bars on Santa Monica and those on Wilshire Blvd. Exactly 3 miles from campus and 3 miles from Santa Monica beach. Overall, an excellent place to live!

Perfect location!

Our building is conveniently located in terms of where Anderson students go out and where they live. Our apartment is HUGE, our rent is extremely reasonable, and the management company is always very responsive when we need them.

Sawtelle Reviews

Centrally located in West La. Close to Brentwood, Santa Monica, Westwood, Sawtelle, Culver.

A decent amount of homeless people but not at the Venice level.
Many Anderson and UCLA students around so never a dull moment. The area feels comfortable even at night. All of the worthy restaurants are on Sawtelle blvd which is great if you appreciate ramen. You will most likely branch out for more to do but it provides great proximity to UCLA and everywhere else
Probably most popular place for food in the west la area. Ramen, Japanese food, and dessert alley. Bit pricey but since it's upscale and popular, it feels safe at night. Close enough to school if you drive. Lots of students live in the area, but you'll need to uber to meet them or meet them at the restaurants.
Within a few blocks walking to the primary bars that Anderson events are held at. The neighborhood is fairly residential and quiet, but not too far from some good restaurants and bars in Brentwood and Santa Monica. The great thing is that so many classmates tend to live nearby. Less than 3 miles from the ocean at Santa Monica.
25 minutes driving to school in rush traffic. 15 minutes otherwise. Neighborhood is quiet and safe, but a range of bars, shops, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. are within walking and short driving/uber range. Bus and metro stops are both fairly close. Easy highway access to both the 405 and the 10. Price range is cheaper than Brentwood or Santa Monica.
Pros:
- Close drive to UCLA campus w/ easy access to 405
- Can pick up #1 bus from Santa Monica and Sawtelle bus to UCLA
- Given the area, street parking is not too difficult to find
- Easy walk to Sawtelle for food
- Rent is reasonable given the area
- Small complex with only 12 units so there's not too much noise
- Management is very responsive

Cons:
- Non-master bedrooms are pretty small and one of them has a stand-up shower (not a bathtub)
- Appliances and apartment doesn't feel very "modern" (though everything works)
Lots of good Asian restaurants and convenient grocery stores.
Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Lots of other Anderson students within a mile radius. Quick drive to school (13-15min almost always). In-between Santa Monica Blvd and Wilshire so there are lots of bus options if you won't have a car.
