I once had a toilet I could not use for 3-4 weeks; during that time i constantly e-mailed management. It was nearly a month that I went without a toilet. They would send someone and after I clearly described the issue (that the tank had broken) they had sent someone here with a plunger and after he realized he had not been appraised of the situation he marked it as resolved and I had to reach out again to get it fixed.
For 2000$/month you can get far better apartments for cheaper. Also, the AC unit is so loud you cannot have it running and watch TV without blasting the volume.
Also, GW's wifi doesn't let you connect a gaming console to it. I read you're supposed to go to some office and get a router or something? That is not a problem with cheaper apartments.
Finally, the door to the room locks automatically when it gets shut. if you happen to forget your key you have to walk about 15 minutes, rain, sleet or snow, in whatever you're wearing when you get locked out to get a replacement key.
On the positive side I have not seen any roaches or mice inside my apartment, though I have seen traps around outside. However, that does not justify the high price point for an overall pretty awful value. There are literally apartments all around this area (some two doors down or a little up the road) that are cheaper and lack all the aforementioned issues.

The Aston is a pretty decent place to live. It feels like an apartment, instead of a dorm, most times - until room checks or the fire alarm goes off for a drill. The worst thing about it is how expensive it is. The Aston is $10,000 a semester - and when you’re a broke law student, you miss that money. But, it was a good fallback when I couldn’t search for apartments because I moved from another state. The studio is a good size (not for the amount we pay but that’s foggy bottom), there’s laundry on every floor, and everyone has their own bathroom and kitchen. It’s very private. It’s a 10-15 minute walk from school which is annoying some days but you get used to it. I don’t like the area much personally, but I will say it’s conveniently located close to the blue/orange/silver lines at the Foggy Bottom station and the red line at DuPont. The area is just kind of boring, but it’s not dangerous. Grocery stores are Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods, both about a 7-10 minute walk. Kinda wish we were closer to a Safeway.
All in all, but a terrible experience, especially for a dorm.

Live at the Aston your 1L year! Great experience! Great way to meet people in law school! Easy, convenient, everything is there for you! No need to furnish an apartment! Plus you get your own studio apartment, but your neighbors are in law school with you!

The apartment space itself is nice. The furniture is outdated

First of all the price to live in this building is astronomical. Many of my friends lived off campus (even closer to school in some cases) for much cheaper. I also lived on the 10th floor and had to constantly deal with loud noises that literally shook my room. I reported this on many occasions and often they would take a long time to fix the issue, or would not fully resolve the issue. I even had problems with heating sometimes dropping my temperature in to the high 50's. Maintenance took several days to fix this problem as well. The room itself is definitely nothing special especially for the price we pay.
I will say it is nice to be close to other students and it was pretty easy to meet fellow law students. It also was in a nice location plenty of bars and stores nearby.
Overall, I am not happy with my experience and would not only not recommend this to others, but I would even go as far as to advise against living there.

It's a nice, decent sized apartment that comes with furniture, including a twin bed, one large and one small dressed, and a desk. But some drawbacks that should really be considered include the fact that packages do not get delivered straight to the apartment building (which can be a hassle since you have to pick it up from the school delivery center which is a 10+ minute walk), the bed is small (twin xl) and of poor quality, the rent is a bit high as well compared to neighboring areas, and the room is carpeted - while they offer vacuum rental, it is very impractical since the vacuum is only available an hour or two during the entire week and is borrowed from one of the residents here. Otherwise, most (not all) of your neighbors are fellow law school students, some are GW grad students, there is laundry available on each floor, there is a printing station on the main floor downstairs, and they are generally good with doing repairs when needed.

This is a good option if you want to be close to GW but overpriced. The size of the studio is great, but the walls are super thin and you can hear everything going on around you. No complaints about the kitchen, and management is usually responsive, but often takes a while to actually get anything done.

The Aston overall is a good place to live. The room (at least mine, as not all rooms are the same size) was a lot bigger than I expected, and a lot cleaner and maintained than I expected, so that was good. My room did have a few things that needed fixing, such as faucet leaks, odor coming from the bathroom, A/C not working at times, etc. But the good thing is that GW took care of it in a timely manner when I addressed it with them. The common areas though frequently had problems, such as leaks in the ceiling, light bulbs always out, etc. For the amount of money we paid, I do wish the Aston was a bit more "modern" and "fancy." I know many of my fellow law students who pay less rent and their buildings and rooms look a lot nicer than the Aston. Finally, I wish the law school had a building that was closer to the law school building, as we are farther from campus than any other housing in school. So overall, I had a good experience. I just think it's a bit pricey for what you get.

I was glad that GW had a housing option for law students in the first year since I don't know DC well and could not take time off from my job before attending law school to do an apartment search. The myriad of problems that we have had this year is alarming considering that the university is the landlord: between no hot water for almost a week during the dead of winter, spotty internet, a very drafty window and poor heat thermostat, an air conditioner/heater that sounds like a construction site when on, poor lighting in the kitchen, and let's not forget the lovely plumbing problem that made the lobby smell like a port a potty. Also, my mailbox never seems to be able to open.

That being said, I do enjoy the social experience of living with people in my classes to get through the tough first year. Location is great.

The apartment complex needs some TLC. The carpet is old and gross, the appliances are very worn, and the building needs new water pipes. A pipe in the lobby burst at least twice, and a pipe in someone's room also burst. The heating/cooling unit isn't reliable. It's a lot of money for not a great studio.
