great location/management

I love having a rooftop with some views and a pool. My studio is a good size and all maintenance issues have been fixed the same day. There are lots of dogs in the building and a 24-hour front desk attendant. Short (15min) walk to campus and right by Dupont circle. Quiet street but lots of restaurants and bars a couple blocks away.

Newport Condo

500sq ft 1 BR, heart of dupont, quick walk to GUTs. Pool and nice rooftop. A bit of an older building, but well worth it for the location and price.

Overall, Solid Place

Good building, but few amenities. Rooftop pool is nice but no gym, although the price is rather high for no gym since the square footage is very low for a one bedroom. Layout of the rooms work well though, and kitchen is pretty big. Very good location

Close to GW Law

The Newport is right between the Foggy Bottom and Dupont Circle Metro stations. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the law school, which is close but not so close that you feel like you are living on campus. The building itself is a bit on the older side but that seems to be the norm around DC. The building allows cats and dogs but landlords have some discretion when it comes to allowing certain breeds. Haven't seen any pests so far. Overall, not a bad place to live.

Amazing location, hit or miss to find an updated unit

The Newport is in an incredible location -- halfway between Dupont Circle and West End/Foggy Bottom. 10 minute walk from Trader Joe and Whole Foods and 15-20 minute walk away from a Safeway. Quick access to the Red and Blue/Orange metro lines and short walking distances away from numerous bus lines (including the GUTS shuttle and G2/D buses which will take you to Georgetown). The Circulator to Georgetown/Rosslyn stops a block away. The location simply is truly unbeatable.

The apartment building itself is pretty standard -- it's a condo so you rent directly from the unit owner (mine owns two units and lives in Vienna, VA but typically doesn't come into the city unless I need something). About half the building are renting from unit owners and in general seems to be pretty young and cordial. My personal unit hasn't been renovated by the owner so it's pretty dated but that also keeps the cost down. Because of the location, I'm not in my apartment too much so this works for me. Studio sizes are pretty spacious, as studios go (~500 sq. ft) and has a few closets. Since it's not updated, the one thing I had to come to terms with was that there was no dishwasher. Since it's just me it's very manageable and I was sold on the full sized oven plus a gas stove. There's no gym but there is a rooftop deck and (very small) pool. One washer/dryer unit on each floor as well as trash and recycle drop-off locations also on each floor. All utilities (minus cable/internet) are included, which makes things incredibly easy. The front desk staff (24hr staffed front desk) are awesome -- friendly and remembers your name. I never have to worry about someone taking my packages either since they're monitored by the staff.

Dupont Circle Reviews

Great neighborhood. Very walkable, even at night I always feel safe. Usually lots of people out and about. Young community, lots of bars and some awesome restaurants. Farmers markets and outside concerts in the warm months. Easy access to foggy bottom metro (15min walk) and dupont metro (5 min walk). Lots of green space (rock creek park). Georgetown 20 min walk with great shopping. 20 min walk to AdMo with great restaurants/bars
I love the neighborhood! Perfectly situated between Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom. Walking distance to campus, while still being separate enough to feel independent. Tons of restaurants, bars, and stores around. The neighborhood feels very safe but is quiet and residential, too.
Dupont Circle is a great area. I like that my block feels very residential, but I'm close to convenience stores, the Metro, and only a 15-20 minute walk to the law school. Sometimes I walk over to Georgetown, which is nice.
I have never felt unsafe walking home at night from campus. The area is mostly embassies and very fancy apartments and townhouses.
could not be happier. i love having a safe space away from the law school
West End is amazing! Such great restaurants and stores around!
Amazing food and restaurants all within walking distance
Hamilton House is located in the crossings of West End, Foggy Bottom, and DuPont. It is a very clean, classy area. Super incredible how you can walk down the street to old-town DC, walk down another street and its all clubs and bars of DuPont, walk the other direction and its GW, walk another direction and its DuPont circle and all the incredible food. This is an ideal location, especially being situated right in between Foggy Bottom / GW Metro stop and the DuPont Metro stop.
