Good price-quality, but areas of opportunity

Overall, its a good deal for the price you pay. Downtown and Lady Bird are walking distance, which is the best perk. This complex in particular has not the best management, somedays you may find common areas haven’t been cleaned, and sometimes it may take them days to repair things in the common areas that have broken

Good choice

Good location, nice amenities, never that loud. Mixed use complex so there's a alamo drafthouse, some restaurants, orangetheory. No apartment complex is perfect but this hands down is the best one i've stayed in

Pretty Solid

Overall, Lamar Union is pretty good. It's above a shopping center with an Alamo Drafthouse movie theater, Shake Shack, Orange Theory, Gibson Street Bar, Medici Coffee and a few other restaurants. We get discounts at all of the places as residents. The bus to campus picks up literally just across the street, which is super convenient. In non-peak traffic hours it's about 15-20 minutes to campus. In peak rush hour it's about 20-25. The pool scene is great in the summer and overlooks downtown Austin. The gym is well done and has everything I need. There is a dog park if you have pets and the building is pretty quiet. It's also easy walking distance to ACL and the Town Lake running trail.

My only complaint is that the property manager has been a little slow to fix some issues, namely the elevators when they have broken down. Otherwise, it's a really good place to live. Just far enough from campus to give me space, but close enough to the bars to be fun.

Huge Improvement from NYC Standards

After living in NYC for 4 years, Lamar Union is a breath of fresh air. While it's probably true that you can expect to get more space for your buck anywhere in Austin than in Manhattan, here the deluxe feel goes beyond square footage. Units come equipped with a Nest smart thermostat and stainless steel kitchen appliances; all tenants have access to communal business and social spaces (including a pool); and I've never felt more taken care of by the management staff (consider <24hr turnaround for all service requests). The location in the ever-expanding South Austin neighborhood just past the lake is convenient to downtown and lots of exciting restaurants and bars in and around Zilker, Bouldin Creek, and S Congress. My girlfriend and I feel like we really lucked out with our first apartment in Austin!

Great for Young Professionals

Great building with amenities such as swimming pool, community/game room, and downtown views. Management is always responsive to needs and location is great with many places nearby that you could walk to. I feel safe living in this community and crime isn't a problem.

Lamar Union is Fantastic!

Great living for students who are looking for a more calm environment.
It is a 10 minute bus ride to UT campus, but its worth the commute.
The amenities include a rooftop pool, sky lounge, state of the art fitness center and many retail stores and restaurants to choose from.

Great Location, Great Amenities.

Lamar Union is currently the hottest new apartment complex. You have Alamo Drafthouse, retail, restaurants at your doorstep and only a 10 minute walk to Zilker Park and Barton Springs.
Its close proximity to DT is very convinient as well as to all the new/classic Austin retail on South Lamar.

Zilker Reviews

So much nature is walkable from here. Ladybird trail, Zilker Park, etc. Public transit is also good, and I can bike to downtown while staying off of the main roads.
Neighborhood is very well located, nice and clean, great outdoors and amazing restaurants in it
Wouldn’t live anywhere else! Besides maybe downtown so I don’t have to deal with the traffic crossing the lake. But it’s the best and where all the best restaurants are.
Walkable and happening place. Many outdoor activities to choose from.
Zilker, it's where it's at
The location is close enough to downtown to be easily accessible to anything, but the rent is notably less expensive. Taking the bus to/from campus has not been as convenient as I had hoped so I ended up bringing my car down to Austin, but parking in the building is affordable. I also have a bike, but I have heard that they are stolen quite frequently (more of an Austin issue than an apartment issue), so I'm grateful that my closet is huge and I have plenty of space to store it in there.
It’s great being next to the river and Zilker Park. If you like to run or walk, this is the best location for you.
Awesome bars, restaurants, food trucks ... Zilker/Barton Springs, etc. This place has it all!
