Cheap but loud

The apartment is very nice, modern, in a safe building. Rent is VERY cheap (965/person with your own bedroom and bathroom) for such an apartment. The only downside is that it’s facing a Boulevard and the windows are absolutely not sound proof. I can still hear the cars with earplugs. If you need absolute silence to sleep, this will be an issue. The windows are also facing a tree so we don’t get much sunlight but it’s not as big of a deal as I thought it would be in the beginning.

Disappointing

The building itself seems secure enough but packages get stolen from the front mailbox room more often than not.
Also, b/c the building is close to Venice, it's very noisy and high pedestrian/car traffic.

UCLA Graduate Student Housing - South Campus

I highly recommend the UCLA Graduate Student Housing on the "south campus." I love living in the Keystone-Mentone apartments. It was very easy to transition from living in New York to attending law school in LA.

Overall solid spot, but there’s noise above

It’s a nice apartment. The tandem parking isn’t ideal. There’s a beautiful garden, but I do wish there was a pool instead of a weird exercise area outside with those self-weight machines that no one uses. The massive issue with this place is that they put hard floors in,
Instead of carpet, and the apartment above can be noisy when walking. Otherwise, solid spot.

UCLA Housing

Good location, shuttle is great, newly renovated buildings. Great price for location. Maintenance staff is generally good, especially the after hours folks, very professional. You can call for a late night noise complaint and they will go talk to the neighbors, unlike in other complexes where you have to call the cops. All residents are UCLA grad students.

Keystone Apartments

Great Location! Right next to the 10 and the 405. Walking distance from Downtown Culver City and the Palms area.

Even better price! My roommate and I pay 1650 a month together for 2bed 2bath.

Carpeting, out of date dishwasher, and old air-conditioning are the low points.

Sunny and hot

The building in general is pretty quiet and management does a great job in making sure all the amenities are working. Having one parking spot in this neighborhood is a little deadly, but my roommate and I make it work by switching out from week to week.

The building is old and doesn't have any central air or heating which has proven to be a massive problem with the new long hot summers LA has been having. There were weeks where we couldn't even be in the apt during the day during the months of July - October. It was horrible. We are moving as opposed to buying a/c units for each room.
